River City Brewing Company opened in 1993 in the heart of downtown Sacramento. We are the oldest brew pub in Sacramento still operating. In 2015 River City moved to Carmichael CA to begin a new and exciting chapter.

River City prides itself on only using the finest ingredients when brewing and always source local ingredients when possible. Our brewer Ben Barker started with River City in 1995 to 1999 and returned in 2013. His commitment to this craft, shows in his beers.

River City always sources from local farms when possible. We receive produce orders every day to ensure the freshest product always goes out on our plates. We change our menu three times a year to make sure we are always serving what is in season.

Cask at the brewpub. Malty, reasonably hoppy, light nutty aromas. Near opaque brown color with a foamy tan head. Medium body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is roasted malt, slighty harsh on the tongue, like the feel of the old Guinness. Not detecting chocolate. Mellows out to a fairly dry, smooth, decently hoppy finish.

Draft. Rich amber beer with an off-white head. Nutty/malt flavor with caramelization and slight roast balanced with hop bitterness. Some woodiness as well. Light nutty malt aroma. Hops become more apparent as you get through the malts and drink more. Flavors don’t all meld together easily and it becomes a bit muddled.

Draft. Amber beer with an off-white head. Earthy/grassy hops with a good caramel malt backing. Low aroma. Great balance. Lingering hop flavor mixed with a bit of sweetness.

Draft. Hazy amber beer with a nice white head. Lemony aroma with some wheat. Clean nicely balanced malt/wheat flavor. Gets a bit tiring, but that may be just me and american wheat beers. Not a big wheat bite.

Draft. Golden beer with a low white head. Some caramel malt backing in the flavor with citrus hops. Slight citrus hop aroma. Medium bodied. Not bad for a lighter pale ale.

Draft. Pale golden straw color with a nice white head. Fruity (lemon/summer) flavors with light wheat and some nice yeasty spiciness. Yeasty aroma. Light and refreshing. Medium bodied. Easy to drink.
