Bottle at the pre Bamberg tune up in the Sham, from Callans Dundalk, 23/01/14. Hazed amber with a moderately appointed light beige covering. Nose is bitter fruit, light caramel, faint hops, blood orange. Taste comprises caramel, fruit tang, bitter orange, straw. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying closure. Very so so.

Pre Bamberg bash tasting at Colin’s house with Mr Bois and James. Ta Colin. Lightly hazy amber beer, small pale cream coloured head. Palate is light and semi dry. Mild carbonation. Minerals. Light paper. Little dried fruits. Light dry finish. Mild malty linger. Not too bad.

Bottle at mum and dads house, from Callans Dundalk, @5.8% 18/01/14. Hazed golden amber with a good sized off white head that thins a little then retains. Nose is earthy hops, mandarin, bitter orange marmalade, candied sugars, caramel malt. Taste comprises orange pith, light mango pulp, red grapefruit, straw, earthy hops, malty undertones. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry grassy hop bitterness in the finale. Decent enough IPA - easy drinker, decent balance, not massively hopped but hops certainly well evident.

Keg @ Brew Dock, Dublin [151114]
Tasting great here, lots of stingy citrus zest, orange zest, hop resins, really fresh. Had 2 pints of the stuff. Seems to have really improved. One of the best IPAs brewed in Ireland. Up to 3.9

Amber, light haze, bubbly white head, good lacing
Aroma - Zesty citrus, slight resinous hops, some orange, sweet resins
Taste of zesty hops, bitter orange, bitter grapefruit zest, sharp biting zest, sweet fruity malt background
Palate - Medium carb and body, big bitter zest palate. Finish - sharp zesty bitter, very bitter linger almost to my limit but the sweetness underneath just keeps it from getting too much
Overall - Decent IPA, plenty of hops in this

Good to return to this beer after a while....now to try the bottle...aroma of massive tropical fruits, grapefruit, mango, sweet fruity malts, very fresh, complex fruits, fantastic aroma hangs around constantly, more fruity and less malty than before.....Taste of massive fruits, tons of hops, alcohol well hidden, hops so so fresh....Palate has huge sweetness and bitterness perfectly in balance....Overall - This is me is better than keg, more fruity, less fruity toffee malts, more tropical fruit, piney, fruit salad hop....Yes this is the #1 in Ireland...up to 4.3

Found this rather cloying on cask - flavours are heavy....really needs to be on keg, the CO2 just lightens everything up, more dynamic flavour and aroma, better palate. I’ve had it a couple of times more on keg and it’s much better for my palate

Aroma - big tropical fruits, sweet fruity malts, grapefruit pith, lots of pithy resinous fruits, super aroma
Taste as the aroma, great background of sweet fruits, mango, tropical nots, juicy citrus, resinous hops, good bitter sweet balance, complex flavour, so drinkable for the abv, cracking stuff
Palate - Soft carb, full body, rich mouthfeel, sweet malt, intense bitter hops in there but counterbalanced well be the sweet malts. Finish is smooth, equally intense sweet and bitter.
Overall -They beat BrewDog easily at making DIPAs with this. Absoutely superb.

Aroma - mellow tropical fruits, light sweet tropical fruity malt, some pithy grapefruit

Draught. Hazy orange with a thin head, excellent lacing. Aroma is dust and dough. Flavor is yeast and bread, mild malt, finish is light bitter bread.

Draught at Brew Dock. Hazy orange with a medium tan head. Aroma is intense tropical fruit. Flavor is lively fruit, lots of if, nicely balanced with a malt pine. Finish is strong bitter hop and malt finish.
