ABR 2016. Black. Low carbonation. Very dry, a roasted character, and I noticed a thickness on the plate that was not there in the other imperial stout I have tried from voyageur. Coffee beans and dark chocolate, with the flavor of heavily roasted grains. Good.

All Pints North 2016. My first beer from Voyageur. Big cucumber aroma, noble hops, saaz maybe? Lots of cucumber in the flavor as well. It is not as good as Cigar City Cucumber saison, but the cucumber is good and this is refreshing. It does have some sweetness to it, but a fairly light palate appropriate for the type of beer.

Pours a dark brown-black, with minimal head. Aroma has some coffee, some licorice, some roasted grains. Flavor is marked by coffee and toffee, with a good helping of leather. Just a touch of sweetness. Has a rather sour finish. Kind of a strange beer.

Pours a clear copper-gold, with minimal head. Aroma of pine, with some citrus. Flavor is very piney-hops, with a bitter aftertaste. Not terrible, but not particularly distinguished, either.

On tap at Red Wing Brewing. Pours a clear light yellow with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a nice wheat note with some grass and a decent amount of floral Belgian yeast. Flavor has more of a sweet wheat note with a good amount of sweet flora and belgian yeast as well and a touch of light fruit.

Winterfest 2016. 48 ibu’s. palate is a little thin but lots of hops for the style, especially in the aroma immediately but I notice them in the flavor as well. Heavily roasted flavor, light sugar. palate is a bit thin but this is a solid first attempt.

Winterfest 2016. Copper color. Smoke is light, comes through more as a smokey flavor than in the aroma, and in that regard it reminds me of Schlenkerla helles. The brewer said he was going for a subtle smoke, which is fine, although I prefer a strong smoke character. Enjoyed the beer.

Samples from the tap at Red Wing. Pours a near clear yellow gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a nice leathery smoke with grain and a hint of maple underlying. Flavor has a great smoke note that mellow a bit to let some grain and maple come through.

On tap at Happy Gnome. Pours a near clear deep brown with a deep amber hue and a brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a decent amount of mocha with sweet dark grains and a light roast note. Flavor is sweet dark grain forward with growing mocha and a touch of roasted malts.

Sampled from the tap at ABR 2015. Pours a hazy amber gold with a tan head that starts and remains at the edges. Aroma has a good amount of oak with some musty grain and a hint of grass. Flavor has notes of grain and bread with a bit of grass and oak supporting.
