Description
In the country side, on the banks of Tauber river and directly on "Romantische Straße" ("Romantic Road") there is a small village called Distelhausen, a district of Tauberbischofsheim. As the name suggests, "Distelhäuser Brauerei" (brewery of Distelhausen) is situated here; it is one of the medium-sized breweries in the German beer sector. The brewery was founded in 1811 as Brewery Womann and in 1876 acquired by Ernst Bauer. The brewery is owned by the Bauer family since that year.

In Distelhausen, 23 different kinds of beer are currently produced according to traditional regional brewages. Due to the long-lasting and trustful co-operation with domestic business partners and gastronomy and because of the tight coupling with regional suppliers from agriculture, industry and services, "Distelhäuser Brauerei" considerably supports regional economy in Franconia of Tauber River since the raw materials used are traditionally mainly from the region.

The brewery is a founding member of the Die Freien Brauer (Independent Brewers) initiative, an association of medium-sized private breweries in Germany and Austria. As early as 1956 the brewery involved its staff in various forms in the profits.

Bottle from Rewe, Wiesloch
Cloudy orange-gold color; generous head; highly carbonated. Light aroma of cereals. The body is a bit stronger and rounder than a normal Lager or Weizen; the flavor is somehow a crossover between Lager and Weizen, between Ale and lager; there are some cereals similar to wheat, a bit fruity, without the spicy character. Low bitterness. Quite useless.

10/8/9/8/10/9

Bottled (from bierzwerg.de). Slightly hazy orangeish golden colour with a mediumsized foamy slightly off-white head that leaves some lace. Aroma is caramel malts, some earth, mild wheatlike notes, slightly zesty as well as herbal. Flavour is bready and caramel malty along with a slight fruityness and also some herbal notes. Long wheatlike aftertaste.

The bottle looks really good, the beer in the glass as well. Zippy, nice head. Starts malty, modest dry, a bit rusty, fruity notes of raisins. Also some light smoky notes. Well balanced finish, a bit warming, very drinkable. Great beer!

Bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also. Nice head. Starts strong, quite spicy from the beginning, also a bit sourish. Finsih a little bit alcoholic-metallically, but still nicely spicy. Not bad!

The bottle looks very good, the colors fit together very well. Beer in the glass quite dark, huge head. Starts strong, quite yeasty and spicy, modest grainy notes, a bit sourish. Finish still strong, intense fruity and sourish. Well balanced and very drinkable! Great beer!

Bottled (from bierzwerg.de). Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is bready malts, sweet malts, some grass, herbs and mild grainy notes. Flavour is quite much the same, but the herbs are a bit more powerful. In the finish some mild sulphur notes, which are not that nice.

Draught at Bronnbach in Wurzburg. Glowing, cloudy, dark orange—like apricot flesh, wth a tall, fine, pillowy head. Rich wheat aroma with banana and clove, cereals and cake; creamy and nice. Very tasty malts, with banana and clove plus a bit of citrus and cereals. There is a slight bitter edge, probably from the dinkel. Rich, smooth, and full. Interesting and pleasant, though sweet—but it has balance.
