On tap at Brewers Cooperative. Pours reddish purple. Aroma is lactic yoghurt, bread, bit of red fruit, not great. Flavour is raspberry, boysenberry, lots of tart cranberry. There’s some bread and yoghurt notes here too but they play nicely as the undertone to the berries. Shame the aroma isn’t as well balanced.

On tap at 16 Tun. Aroma is big coffee and chocolate. Flavour has some more restrained coffee, with lots of milk chocolate. Really nice.

On tap at 16 Tun. Smells like heather and that’s maybe the best thing about it. Taste is medicinal plant matter and it’s flat and creamy too. Really quite unpleasant.

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Brothers Beer, Auckland, August 2014. A bit hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma and taste of lime, citrus, some spices and yeast. A bit strange to be honest.

Bottle, kindly shared by Miro, many thanks. Dark reddish brown color with medium off-white head. Nice hoppy aroma with caramel. Caramel malt followed by nice citrus hoppy kick. Long hoppy bitter finish. Went nicely with grilled meat. Good.

(On tap) Hazy copper brown with slight white head. Lovely smokey aroma. Medium body, lightly carbonated. Flavour is rich and smokey. The smokiness works well; it is distinct without being harsh. There’s some sweetness, maybe date or fig. There’s also some interesting drying acidity that reminds me of dry white wine. The high alcohol content is well hidden. Overall an unusual and very drinkable smokey beer.

Hazy copper coloured body complete with tons of chunks of sediment floating in the beer and eventually settling on the bottom. Thin, half centimetre tall pure white head. Aroma of alcohol, lemons, malt, cleanser and a bit of grass - not too much here. Light-bodied; Assertive effervescence with a little earthy and coriander seed flavour from the malt, with a hint of curacao and some light sweetness. Aftertaste shows a subtle yeast characteristic, a little grassy hops and a tiny alcohol warmth at the end. Overall, a bit better than I was expecting and quite complex for the length I’ve had this! I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from GlenGarry in Auckland (Devonport), New Zealand on 22-July-2008 - best by date on bottle of 09-November-2008, this was sampled almost five years past that date - on 08-July-2013 at home in Washington on the opposite side of the world, in celebration of my first daughter getting her very first passport.
