Poured up at AZ Strong Beer Fest 2017, where this was sampled at the State 48 booth and stated as a collaboration with Black Bridge (it is likely this batch was brewed at Black Bridge and is not a new version of Cliffdweller) where it exhibits a hazy deep gold body that supports a near white head of foam. The aroma offers up pine hops, sort of citrus cotton candy and then a mild floral and hop grassiness. The taste delivers bitter pine and bitter floral hops that kind of marry together. Toward midway the pine ratchets up into a sappy resininess. The bitterness gets to robust levels as a light sense of citrus hops help take this toward the finish. This is not my favorite hop profile but this is still a solid rich intense IIPA and the ABV is very well hidden.

Poured up at AZ Strong Beer Fest 2017 where it exhibits a slightly hazy copper body that has thin gold edges and supports a micro thin near white head of foam. The mild aroma offers up sweet malts, a bit of honey kind of pear ester sensation and then a modest banana note paired up with faint bubble gum. The taste delivers smooth sweet malts, nearly silky, and getting into a tasty earthy estery sensation of pears, honey dew, a bit of honey and then a modest thin layer of banana kind of riding just below the bulk of the experience. There’s a bit of bitterness going on there too to provide a sense of balance but it’s hard to tell where that’s coming from. Really solid wheat wine here, wow!

Poured up at AZ Strong Beer Fest 2017 where it exhibits a clear deep copper body that supports a thin light tan head of foam. The aroma offers up sweet malts, kind of sweet crystal malts and then prune, brown sugar and resins with a bit of molasses off in the background. The taste delivers sweet malts, a little bit of crystal malts and then a modest level of sweet prune and fig like fruity esters coming to the surface. To midway it picks up some brown sugar dusted raisins as the sweetness builds up to a pleasing rich ‘sipper’ level. This then blends and slides into a tasty finish. Solid barleywine sipper.

64oz growler, filled at the brewery, pours with a crystal clear deep gold body that supports a semi creamy dirty white head of foam. The aroma hits you with citrusy tangelo and clementine and then thin spicy earthy dank onion. Nice. The taste doesn’t disappoint with bitter tangerine, tangelo and orange citrus hoppiness. To midway it gets a little juicy just as the spicy near dank like hops bubble to the surface. The hop dank spiciness grows as it warms. This has a nice sessionable load of hops.

Poured up on tap at the brewery where it exhibits a clear copper to light amber colored body that supports an off white head. The aroma is on the soft side and offers up modest levels of earthy wet tobacco, a mineral sort of spiciness and a sense of malts in the background. That earthy tobacco note is really inviting. The taste doesn’t disappoint as it has soft smooth smoky earthy tobacco sort of notes swirling over a thin pool of yeasty to spicy to mineral like notes. These are all supported by a light malty body that has plenty of snap and surprising crispness and ending on the dry side. Wow. This is just so damn easy drinking.
