Cask-conditioned, on gravity, at the Tewkesbury Winter Ales Festival 2/2/2018. Amber in colour, with a thin, off-white, head. Hedgerow fruits, grainy malts, some leafy hops and green herbs, leading to a touch of spice and moderately bitter finish. Fine.

Bottle at the Vanbrugh, Greenwich. Terracotta coloured pour with an off-white head. Spice ridden nose of cloves, cinnamon, pepper, plus a splash of sultana, vanilla, orange zest, candied peel. Warm, sweet spice in the flavour with sweet citrus, sultana, marmalade and vanilla making an appearance too. Sweet, spicy laden mouthfeel. Long, sweet finish. Definitely won’t be everyone’s cup of tea (or coffee if you’re of an US of A persuasion) but I didn’t mind this at all. Thought it worked rather well. Could only at a push drink a couple of bottles in any one session though.
