Hazy amber color. The smokeyness in the aroma reminds me more a breakfast with toasted bread than an open fire. The body is medium-light but a bit oily; there is some caramel flavor (it would not be anyway a great beer) with a pleasant smokey touch. Controversial.

500ml bottle purchased at Barley Wine, Copenhagen. Pours a huge and appealing red-brown body under a beige foam, slowly fading. Dark fruits notes in a rather careful aroma. The flavour contains a dash of sweet fruits and berries. Ends with a peppery bitterness and a touch of yeast. Lively natural carbonation (02.08.2007).

500ml bottle from Barley Wine, Copenhagen. Amber body under a thin layer of foam. Slightly hazy towards the last pour. Aroma has got fruitiness of hops. The flavour is also hoppy with added notes of malts and spicies. Satisfying bitter aftertaste. Dry and rounded mouthfeel. Natural carbonation (01.08.2007).

2008-08-29, draught at the brewpub, 7-3-7-4-14=35
Hazy blond color. It has a nice hoppy aroma and flavor; the body is quite weak, with some toffee. Pleasant.

2008-03-15, draught at Lord Nelson, 8-4-6-3-13=34
Nice deep blond color, creamy head. It has a very nice hoppy aroma, but the mouthfeel is a bit too dry and not enough sweet for my taste. Strong bitterness of course, with (a bit harsh) hop resins.

Beautiful golden color. Aroma with some hops and a lot of sugars. Dry mouthfeel, but medium body strength; some malt flavor, quite strong bitterness; in the late flavor there is some aroma and oil from the hops. Quite close to the English style.

KØ07. Clear shiny yellow colour. The flavour has a very uncompromising bitterness and a strange sort of spiciness. Like a pils with a little spice/herb. Thin mouthfeel. Strange, but drinkable. 4 3 5 3 11

Bottle, 5.2%. Good refreshing hop aroma. Sweetish maltiness. Clear brown colour. Small tan head. The flavour is malty with a mild refreshing hoppiness like the aroma. 6 3 6 3 13

50 cL bottle (#1432). Pours golden and clear, has yeast on the bottom of the bottle. Quickly disappearing head. Aroma is dusty, grassy. Flavour is sweet with a distinct note of something I assume may be the birch wood. Soft sweet to dry finish.

50 cL bottle (nr 805). Pours black with a light brown head, quickly disappearing but leaving some lacing. Aroma is yeasty/fruity, roasted malt, distinct note of liqourice and a soft coffee note too. Flavour is first fruity and tart bitter, followed by a soft sweet malty note before the liqourice kicks in. Finish is a soft blend of malt, bitterness and liqourice, but it also has a odd herbal note (braendenaelder?)
