Description
Scotland has a deeply fascinating history when it comes to brewing and we wanted to pay homage to these roots when creating our name. Calton Hill Brewery in Edinburgh was the first brewery in Britain to create lager way back in 1835. The small suburb that the brewery called it’s home earned the name Cauld Toon as it sat directly in the in the cold shadow of Arthur’s Seat. Over time, this colloquially became Cal-ton. Carlton Hill could therefore be known as Cold Town Hill, and suddenly our name was born.

Can from Aldi, Inverurie. It pours clear oily gold with a lasting fluffy white head. The aroma is bread, sponge cake, muffin, some orange marmalade, custard cream biscuits, honeyed grain and cereal. The taste is dry, toasty grains upfront, cereal, oiliness, pithy orange, orange marmalade white bread sandwiches, grass, orange blossom, slightly soapy and some biscuit with a very dry finish. Average body and fine, prickly carbonation. Quite like this one. Very drinkable and not lacking in flavour.

Can from Aldi Inverurie. It pours cloudy golden - yellow with a decent white head. The aroma is quite sweet upfront, intoxicating, fruit salad, green banana, orange squash, tangerine, mango, peach melba and a touch of green, dank vibes. The taste is touch dry upfront, weedy, green, touch of rawness, sweet, candy like, pic n mix, Flumps, fruit salad sweet, tangerine, pithy, zesty, slightly soapy, green banana, chalky, minerality, floury bread and a nip of peppery spice with a lingering bitter, green finale. Medium body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. Pretty flavourful, but also a bit raw/chalky. Not bad.
