Draught at Battersea BF 2007. Dark ruby colour with thin beige head. Bit of puke on aroma, then this rather nice cherry fruit flavour kicks in. Yeah, it?s got some nice fruit and the malts are on the dark side. 3.2 drunk fresh from a 10 litre keg at Kellerwald a little flat in carbonation but a decent set of dark malt flavours.

Bottle, 5.2%. Slightly metallic aroma. Very dark brown colour, almost black. Nice creamy head. Quite bready flavour, slightly sweet. Not so roasted. Tastes as if it is a bit past BB date, but there is only a date, no year on the label.

(Bottle 50 cl) A clear, dark, amber golden beer with a creamy, off-hite head. Lightly roasted malt aroma. Medium body with clean notes of roasted malt and then a rather dry and hoppy finish. More of a Landbier than a Dunkel. 251206

(Bottle 50 cl) Slightly hazy, deep golden with a small, off-white head. Clean, soft, malty nose. Medium body with a distinct, sweetish - almost candy like - malt. Discreet bitterness. In no way a great beer, just extremely pleasant and quaffable. 221206

(Bottle 50 cl) Beautiful, clear amber with a creamy, off-white head. Lightly malty and caramelish aroma. Medium body with soft, lightly sweet notes of caramel malt. Not much bitterness. Very drinkable - a typical and pleasant Festbier. 131106

(Bottle 50 cl) Hazy, golden with a tall, dense, white head. Distinct aroma of yeast and banana. Light and somewhat watery body with a distinct, underlying citrusy tartness. I really haven’t been too impressed by the Weissbiers of Forchheim. 131106

(On tap) Clear, fully golden with an off-white head. Clean, malty aroma. Medium body with a solid malt base and a somewhat floral hopping also leaving a firm bitterness. Not your typical Export - more of a Landbier really. 131106

Draught (Forchheim, Germany): served in a Stein, a deep straw colour with a fluffy white head which settled quickly, little aroma, a full-bodied beer with a good balance of malt and hops...time for another one...

As I’m visiting Forchheim its time to try a local brew - pours a deep straw colour, with a white head that fades quickly leaving a very still body with no apparent carbonation. Good balance of malt and hop in the flavour with a sweetish aftertaste. Reminds me more of a Czech Pils than a Bavarian one, but then Forchheim is almost in Czech.
