Description
Horus Aged Ales is a 100% barrel aged brewery located in Oceanside, California. We believe in pushing the boundaries on how much beer can evolve through resting in oak by using a variety of different wine and spirit barrels, adding exotic fruits, and fermenting spontaneously. The complexity of the beer portrays our passion for experimentation and patience required to produce such a unique beverage. Horus has been a decade long dream that is finally coming true and we look forward to introducing our exclusive beer to the fine people of San Diego County.

Sweet but surprisingly dry with some barrel notes, chocolate, bourbon, toffee and syrup. Not super complex, but tasty. Getting better and more barrel heavy as it warms up.

A bit unbalanced, slightly thin body, some roastiness, massive amounts of vanilla and cocoa. Barrel notes are quite subtle, but stingy. Last pours were pure vanilla powder.

Thanks Justin for sharing! Solo cup showing pitch black with no head.

The nose shows moderately intense sweet notes of brownies.

The palate is lightly carbonated and medium bodied but oily. Moderately sweet but balanced by notes of raisins, caramel, and mocha. Fantastic.

Bottle thanks to Billy T at his crib. It pours oily jet black with a small light tan head. The aroma is sweet, oily, intoxicating, candy, toasted coconut, chocolate gateaux, woody, sappy, bourbon soaked oak and vanilla. The taste is slick, oily, sugary, toothy, toasted coconut, woody, nutty, vanilla, warming booze, rocky road, chewy, toothy, fudgey, spiced booze and filth and dirtiness with a slick finish. Fulsome body and fine carbonation. Filthy, but fun in small measures.

Sweet and smooth with some roastiness, coconut, chocolate, vanilla, syrup, toffee and caramel. Not as intense or over the top as I expected. Quite subtle and delicate.

Spiced driftwood, what I'd exp Jack Sparrow to smell like. Thin body, medium sweet, a bit bitter. Sandalwood, hazelnut, cocoa, some bourbon, finishes dry. Fairly smooth, the cinnamon-ish spices from the amburana are quite prominent. Interesting and nice.

There's some body to it but low viscosity. Dry barrel is prominent, some coffee and chocolate, a hint of cinnamony spice, vanilla. Pretty smooth, pretty nice.
