Description
We certainly know that we wouldn’t be here if not for all of those that have come before us. What started many years ago as an obsession to try every beer and mead in existence has now led to an opportunity to come to the table with our own interpretation of what a mead can be. Playing most frequently in the dessert category, we are willing to push the boundaries at times and stretch past balance to bring out intense flavors and unique combinations in our products.
The name Pips is not only a nod to the seeds in fruits, but also to counting devices like the symbols on playing cards or the dots on a die. Though, most importantly, it is a nod to our son, Parker, who was born with special needs. Not knowing what his future holds, Pips will forever be a home to him as a family owned business.
We firmly believe in continuous improvement at Pips. We simply make what we enjoy drinking, and are beyond humbled when we can put a smile on even one other face as a result. That said, we actively seek out learning opportunities and always plan on listening to feedback from our customers. Every voice matters, for it is because of you that we are able to do what we love to do.
We thank you for your support and for joining us on this journey.

Bottle courtesy of Linus. Viscous deep purple pour. Very rich sweet berry, chocolate and nut butter nose. Insanely rich taste where cashew nuts come forward with the berries. On the sweet side but there is a suiting balancing tartness. Floral honey is there and leaves a mark but also leaves room for berries & nuts. Definitely on my radar from now on. Hand bottled with care and consumed at once. No signs of spoilage. Thanks for sharing Linus!

2017 rating : Bottle at Night of the Great thirst 2017 - Lovell -Maine . Thnx for sharing, everyone ! Pours dark purple, smell is full, sweet, honey. Full, complex. wood and blackberries. taste is ful, creamy, sweet, crisp, almost ’malty’ in a way due to the MF and complexity. Very intense. One of the best meads I came across.
2020 re-rate :
Pours nearly black, smell is nutty, berries, intense and perfect. Taste is full, intense, nutty, berries, sweet, sticky, full. Very nutty ending. Avoiding perfection seems to be the only art this meadery doesn't master , judgeing by this mead.
Upping the score from 9.3 to the current 9.8 . might turn into a straight 10 if it shocks mle a third time.

Bottle. Pips is awesome. Reddish color. Big sticky legs on the glass. Huge bouquet of fresh sugary berries. Oranges, very vinous red grapes to me, cranberry. Smooth, lovely palate. Maybe some vanilla. Sweet, not cloying.
