Very clear beer, colour of old gold, virtually no carbonation visible; very discreet white head. Very dry grainy nose, and a bit of solvent, caramel and honey-covered toast. Taste features again this honey&toast, but now much more marked. It is very sweet, but at the same time the opposite of cloying. Again grainy - warm, hot summergrain fields. I like this. Tastes also slightly oxydized - BBd is only 1 month overdraft. Ends drier - joss’ herbal counterpoint. Medium bodied, alcoholwarming and -thinning. Usually I’m all for the Doppelbocks, thinking of the Maibocks as their lesser brethren. This is one happy "Ausnahme". Thanks to whomever gave it to me - Robert?

Dark golden, low creamy head. Quite nice aromatic hop aroma with some sugary sweetness in the background. Sweeet malt base with a herbal counterpoint and some light ethanol burn. Solid oily mouthfeel, still sparkly though. Thanks to Dortmunder for the bottle.

(Bottle 50 cl) Golden, slightly hazy with a nice head. Very malty sensation in the mouth, but an exaggerated bitterness. Not exactly my personal dream of a pilsner. 050204

(Bottle 50 cl) Deep, dark amber color, vague head. Some malty sweetness and an overall nice grainy flavor. Discreet bitterness. It’s not a great beer, but a solid product. 240104

(Bottle 33 cl.) I have a strong suspicion that this beer is identical to the "Edelpils" from the same brewery, but in an unfiltered version. In any case it has the same distict bitterness, which lasts way into the palate. Orange golden and unclear with an impressive head. 080104

(Bottle 50 cl) Fully golden with no real head. Absolutely full-bodied with a distinct malty sweetness. Distinct bitterness, but not strangling. So, despite the uncool design of the label, a decent "Export". 061203

Bottle from Dortmunder - many thanks
Yeasty fruity and herbal bittering and aromatic flowerish hop aroma. Cloudy greenish yellow, thick lacing creamy head. Fruity malt base nicely balanced by the hops. Medium to light body, fruity aftertaste. Rather nice actually.

Bottle from Dortmunder - thanks a lot! Citric and herbal/grassy hop and sourdough malt aroma. Dark golden, low lacing head. Spicy bread base, wooden and honeyish - quite solid. Finishes on a dry herbal note which lingers on. Medium to light body.

(Bottle 33 cl) Fully golden with a very limited head. Fullbodied, high both in sweetness and hoppiness. Very solid and not that refined. Typical light Bock. 310105
