bottle from Bierzwerg. Clear dark brown colour, large beige head. Malty nose. Intensively malty with lovely flavours of caramel and a touch of chocolate. Slightly hoppy with a shy fruity character. A brilliant Dunkel, one of the best I’ve tasted so far.

500mll bottle bought from Battersea BF 09 and drunk at home. Clear reddish brown, thin beige head. Slightly bready aroma. Some decent darkish fruit in the mouth, with some decent toffee too. I would imagine on draught that this is really very drinkable. Lovely bit of bite on the finish with carbonation but also hops as well. Good fullness. Very nice dunkel with good fruits and character.

(33cl bottle) Hazy, pale golden colour with a big foamy white head. Fresh herbal and citrus-fruity hoppy nose with a moderate malty sweetness and light yeasty notes in the background. Bitter flavour, light bodied with a spritzy mouthfeel. Malty and slightly yeasty taste with spicy and floral hoppy notes; dry and lasting bitter finish with an aromatic hops character. A very pleasant Zwickel-Pils (27.08.08).

Bottle. Spicy, christmassy and roasted. Beautifu copper-chestnut colouring, golden lacing foam. Very nice chewy fruity and spiced malt base, subtle aromatic hop profile. More akin to a dark Vienna IMO. Medium to full body, fine sparkly mouthfeel. Light roast retronasal. Nice.
