Description
Urban Chestnut Brewing Company, with three locations in St. Louis, is an unconventional-minded yet tradition-oriented brewer of craft beer. We like to call our unique brewing philosophy Beer Divergency - a 'new world meets old world' brewing approach wherein UCBC contributes to the 'revolution' of craft beer with artisanal creations of modern American beers, and pays 'reverence' to the heritage of beer with classically-crafted offerings of timeless European beer styles.

On tap at the brewery. Lots of fruity esters but disjointed. The Hellertau plays its normal nice part, but the yeast seems to take over and mess this beer up a tad. Of all the beers i enjoyed, this was lowest on the list of the taster.

On tap at the brewery. Over the top and a high-gas beer as the alcohol is overpronounced. Beautiful color and nice full mouthfeel, especially for this style.

On tap at the brewhouse and one of my favourites of the day. Lots of crisp floral aroma and flavor really are the standout of this beer. Another unique and tasty creation from UCBC.

On tap at the brewhouse. Very interesting and complex beer. Lots of bready Belgian funk going on here from the yeast. Brown and clear with a nice off-white head.

Pour is a bright cloudy yellow with a large white head. Aroma is super dry with a cracker malt. Flavor is more of the same. A ton of dry bready malt with what I’m guessing is a spicy saaz hop. Finishes very clean and you could deffinatly put away a few of these on a warm afternoon.

Growler shared by beastiefan2k (thanks, Eugene) - oh yes, the aroma of this beer takes me back to my first experience with Schlekerla - deep woodsmoke and lightly caramelized sugars - creamy mouthfeel, smooth carbonation - Lightly sweet up front, but quickly becomes moderately bitter, with a mild but tasty campfire smokiness - becomes mildly tart and acidic through the middle and finish, which is a bit off putting at first, but once the palate adjusts it works quite well - quite a tasty smoked beer.
