Description
We are tucked into the North Park Hill neighborhood in Denver, CO in a building dating back to the 1920s. The building was restored to house our 7 barrel brewhouse, on display in the taproom, and our 7 barrel fermentation tanks, housed in the basement. The building was home to many businesses prior to us- from a Piggly Wiggly (circa 1950s) to a coffin manufacturer (circa 1960s). We are happy to call it home to craft beer!

Tulip at the brewery - watery, garlicky, catty, herbal, peppery double IPA with a moderately abrasive finish - nah, man.

Tulip at the brewery - hazy gold - lasting head - quite light for a higher-abv saison - lightly sweet up front, becoming drier and lightly bitter and tart late - lightly grassy, with some white grape and hay - an odd starchiness late - a bit of honey - okay.

Tulip at the brewery - hazy gold with a fluffy head - creamy texture - medium sweet, but with a moderately balancing underlying acidity - notes of grapefruit and pepper - light spice and a finishing honey sweetness, with lingering peppery phenolics - finish is a little sugary, but actually not a bad Americanized rendition.

Short pour at the brewery - hazy straw pour - medium bodied and medium dry, with an herbal hop character and somewhat light Belgian yeast phenolics in the form of pepper mostly - really light fruit and gum esters - the yeast isn’t as expressive as I would like, but it’s a good beer.

Short pour at the brewery - light amber - soapy lace - interesting hybrid of British and American renditions - malt-forward, with notes of oxidation, treacle - becomes more fruity and hop-forward on the back end, followed by a return of deep caramelized sugars, but the hops linger enough to keep things from getting cloying - it’s pretty good, really.

Short pour at the brewery - black pour with a thick tan lace - heavy on the bourbon and oak without being too boozy - notes of vanilla, chocolate, coconut, charred oak - some finishing notes of coffee and cream - nice.

Short pour at the brewery - listed at 9.1 abv - dark amber - rich in earthy maltiness, with some peaty character throughout, and some dark fruit - earthy either marris otter or Golden promise - a nice malt showcase with some warming alcohol and light spiciness at the end.

Tap at the brewery - wasn’t sure exactly how to enter this, as there is no “imperial rye ipa” category - the brewery markets this as a “rye ipa” - medium amber pour - fairly dry for the strength, with a lot of rich, spicy rye malt character - a lot of classic American hop dankness pushing up from beneath the malt character - develops some sweet caramelized sugar sweetness to balance the hop bitterness on the tail end - harkens back to the old days of American craft brewing when Stone and Bear Republic were king - the days when red ipas were everywhere instead of fruited quick sours and milkshake ipas - do you remember those days? - Pepperidge Farm remembers.

Short pour at the brewery - hazy light amber - sticky lace - toasty, bready maltiness - slight herbal hoppiness - some honey and light caramelized sugars in the back - also a slight sourness, though, and a slight vegetal note in the nose way in the back - meh.

Pint at the brewery - lightly hazy gold with a fairly frothy head - slightly sweet on the approach, with some honey character, but settling into a clean dryness through the middle and finish, complimented well with slight mineral touches and grassy/herbal hops - finishes dry and moderately bitter - I think it’s pretty good.
