Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours amber with an off-white head. Aroma of strong citrus/pine hop, yet not dankish. Near med body. Flavor is a little malt, a lot of citrus/pine hop; yet it does not quite gel for me - even tho I’m starting to think dankish. Finishes decently bitter.

Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours gold with a white head. Mango/wheat aroma. Wheat aspect is off for me. Mango is nice. Fruity and bitter, but the aftertaste (maybe leaves?)isn’t pleasing me.

On tap at Altamont. I think they cleaned things up in this recent batch. No butter! It pours a light golden orange color with an off white head. The aroma has orange, pineapple and spicy hops. Pretty fresh and potent. The flavor is strong with orange and spicy hops. Big time juicy oranges with medium to strong orange peel bitterness in the finish. No butter. It has a lightly frothy, oily mouth feel. Pretty tasty. Better than the original.

On tap at Altamont. It pours a golden yellow color with a thick white head. The aroma has some pale, grainy malts with light citrus and earthy hops. The flavor is pale malt forward with hints of soap and spicy noble-like hops. It has a full mouth feel for a pale, low gravity beer. I think they’re going for a light, crisp blonde ale here, but their low attenuating yeast strain doesn’t work in this kind of beer for me. They need a bigger, juicier hop profile. Overall, just ok.

On tap at Altamont. It pours a golden yellow color with a small white head. The aroma is bready with some bread crust and juicy mango candies. The flavor, unfortunately, is buttery with some grainy malt and hints of mango but the fruit character is pretty weak. Very little hop character. The butter ruins this one.

On tap at the brewery. It pours a clear light golden orange color with an off white head. The aroma is potently fruity with grapefruit, orange and maybe a hint of pineapple and bread. The flavor is the same. Orange, pineapple and bread. Hints of spicy bitterness. Oily on the palate despite the low gravity. Juicy. Really good.

Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aroma is fairly chocolate. Med + body. Flavor is sort of lactic/milky chocolate with smooth dark malt. Not dry. Not bitter. Nice.

Tap at Harry’s Hofbrau in San Jose. Pours gilded orange with an ivory head. Malty for the style with lots of residual sugars. Hops are citrus and slight cat piss. Slight slickness on the mouthfeel from the oats. Alcohol is hidden here.

Tap at Harry’s Hofbrau in San Jose. Dank all the way without any smoke (if there was intended to be any heavily kilned malts). Pungent, resiny and pine, without being overly bitter. Alcohol gives nice warming and is slightly hot.

First rating of the beer! Tap at Harry’s Hofbrau in San Jose. Another grapefruit IPA that arcs too much to the grapefruit and leaves too much of a find aspect to it. Clear golden with white head.
