Description
The first mention of the prince's brewery at the castle in Racibórz on Ostrog dates back to 1567. And this date is taken as the date of establishment of the brewery, although in fact the brewery is certainly older because earlier in 1559 Karczma Zamkowa was founded and beer was probably delivered from the prince's brewery. In the 16th century, there were 155 beer houses in Racibórz, i.e. houses authorized for brewing. The first mention of brewing in Racibórz was found in a legal instruction from 1293 on the competences of councilors and lay judges in which it was mentioned that the council and lay judges determined the measures and prices of beer for taverners.
Raciborski Urbacz from 1567 recorded two brewers, Sicha and Mateusz, in the city. The number of strongholds during the year was quite large and amounted to around 500. The castle brewery had two vaulted beer depots in the castle's basement.
The brewery from the very beginning was a very large brewery for those times, as evidenced by the size of the Warka beer with 4130 liters. The golden times for the brewery began in the 18th century, during which time the brewery expanded significantly and supplied beer to taverns from the Liska and Czech territories.

Big offwhite head. Clear yellow body. Fruity oily mineraly aroma with herbal mealy notes. Dry-sweet mealy dusty grainy taste with mineraly herbal notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, mealy mouthfeel. Dry-sweetish herbal mealy mineraly aftertaste with grainy rubbery notes. Oily buttery background. Nice quality lager, a little harsh at first, but mellows as I drink. Quite enjoyed this one. (0.5l bottle, from some supermarket in Warsaw.)

Bottle, 5%. OK refreshing hop aroma. Clear pale golden colour. Frothy white head. The flavour is very sweet and spicy. Too sweet, but tastes OK, until a metallic bitterness kicks in, that is.

Bottle. Pours clear pale golden with airy white head. Dusty aroma of skunk and rag - very academic, indeed - with notes of hops. Sweet flavour of cheap malt, with heavy notes of heavy metal and sparse touches of hops. Skunky finish. Filth!

500ml bottle [4.8% abv, Thanx Lukas!]. Clear, green-ish glowing, golden colour with average to huge, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Grainy and strawy aroma, grassy hoppy overtones. Taste is moderately sweet with artificial touch, cautious hints of artificial lime aroma, a dry grainy touch, some hay; flat carbonation, slightly insipid. Not worse than any shandy.
