There’s nothing better than enjoying a nice cold beer while relaxing on the beach, and that’s where our story starts.
From best friends to best brewers, Joe and Larry have been home brewing since one fortunate night while on vacation in the Outer Banks with their families. Larry was walking the beach at sunset, an IPA in hand, and decided it was time for brief respite by leaning on a lifeguard chair. Joe’s brother Jeff soon made his way over, beer in hand, and asked what Larry was doing. He simply responded “Leaning.” The sun was traveling further down when Joe appeared, beer in hand, same as the others, and asked what the guys were up to. Without looking at each other, they both responded simultaneously, “Leaning.” This was the memory that birthed “The Leaning Father’s Brewing Company.”
We’ve come a long way since that fateful moment in 2011. From refreshing “summer blondes” to their signature “The Lean IPA,” we want you to channel that same atmosphere that inspired us from the beginning. Grab your “Leaning Father’s beer and lean with us!

New Jersey brewery tick number 180. 16 ounce can from Libby’s Liquors. Hazed honey gold color. Puffy beige head. Mild citrus fruit aroma hints at grapefruit. Bittersweet citrus is balanced by a bready malt backbone. Body is on the light side. Dry peppery finish is typical of the style.

Draft, flight pour, second from right in flight, at The Cranbury Inn, 6/19/26. Mostly clear gold color with a goodbye white head. Herbal, grassy, grainy, and citrus zest. Sweet, slight malt. Fairly balanced. Drinkable. Maybe a hint thin, but it has a good mouthfeel. Pretty good overall.

Draft at the Cranbury Inn, 5/23/26. New NJ brewery tick for me here. Unclear yellow, thin white head, minimal lace. Light wheat, and mild fruit aroma. Similar flavor. Okay feel. Kinda dull overall. Okay.

Can, from a liquor store in New Jersey. Pours faintly cloudy dark yellow with a small foamy light beige head, malt aroma with faint citrus, adequate carbonation, medium bitter malt forward taste with faint citrus peel-pineapple flavor, thin body, long finish. Decent IPA.
