Description
In 1861 the 25-years old Heinrich Schneider decided to found a brewery on the “Grün’schen Hof” in Hachenburg. The Hachenburger brewery soon became the most important family brewery within the region. With business leader and co-owner Jens Geimer the family-owned company has reached the fifth generation and is still entirely independent.
Key to the success is that the beer is consistently cooled, the precious beer has achieved its special aroma over and over again for 150 years. What was true then is still true today: the long and cold ageing process is a fundamental requirement for a real Hachenburger as well as the use of high-grade raw materials. As well as the natural spring water from the Rothbach valley

Dark amber colour, very cloudy. Malty and slightly sweet aroma. The beer starts malty, a bit neutral. Slightly smooth due to the yeast. The mainpart is malty, slightly sweet, slightly hoppy, but ok. Aftertaste is medium to long, Malty, hoppy and not too sweet. Nice beer, but nothing special!! --> 9/12/8/9

Bottled 750ml Hazy amber color, small off-white head. Herbal, earthy hoppyness with some apricot jam in the nose. Medium-bodied. Spicey hoppyness, fruity jam in the flavor. Light lingering hoppyness in the finish. More like a fancy bottle with ordinary IPA.

Bügelverschlußflasche: Copper coloured, small and stable off-white foamy layer, barnyardy nose, hops and caramel underneath; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied, sticky; caramelly-bitter finish with old vegetables in the aftertaste. Oh, not good…

(swing top bottle, 33cl) Hazy, copper colour with a mid-sized and tanned foamy head. Slightly yeasty cara-malty aroma with shy notes of hay-like hops. Bitter-sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Mildly cara-malty base with notes of herbal hops, getting more and more spicy, even a bit harsh towards the dry finish; caramel and shades of chocolate linger into the aftertaste when the beer warms up. Drinkable, no revelation. 11.VI.13

bottle. Hazy brownish colour, off-white head. Nice malty base with caramel, complemented by some really nice woody hops that suit the character of the beer quite well. Nice one!
