Labeled as Brou Czech Bock. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a bright golden-amber color with a large yellow-white head. The aroma was sour, tangy and almost skunky. The flavor was bitter, tangy and a bit off with sweet malty and light floral hops. The off flavors linger. Not impressed.

Bottled in Tu’val, Israel (3.7%). Clear golden, fair sized head. Floral oily orangey saaz hop aroma. Soapy and light bodied with plenty of oily butterscotch. A well drinkable beer with significant bitterness and plenty of diacetyl.

Labeled as: Valstejn Novopacke Pivo; Clear light copper coloured body with an amber glow and a very thin tan head. Larger bubbles rise from the bottom and show some liveliness. Aroma of fresh malt, nice sugars, peaches and clean fruit along with a subtle and understated hop scent. Medium-bodied; Strong astringent maltiness with yeast, metal and fruits up in your face. Massive malt and bitterness in the palate with some light fruits and alcohol showing, but only minuscule amounts. Overall, an overpowering and slightly overmalted beer - nice to try, but not my favourite from Ceska Republica. I sampled this 50 cL bottle purchased from Galerie Piva in Praha 1, Prague, Czech Republic on 14-March-2008, sampled at home in Washington on 08-February-2009.

Bottle. Clear copper body. White, fizzy and diminishing head. Lots of caramel malt in the aroma along with straw and grass. Hint of smoke, bread and flowers. The flavor is lightly to moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes dry and lightly to moderately bitter though the bitterness sticks around. There is a hint of canned corn and smoky meat in the taste. Medium body with a moderate carbonation and a watery texture. A lot of the flavors of a below-average premium lager or pilsner only intensified. OK, but not a favorite.

Test vom 27.12.2008, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 10,6,5,2,4,3 - 4,35

(Bottle 50 cl) Beautiful, clear, fully golden beer with a small, white head. Slightly fruity, hoppy nose. Very light body with a sharp, bitter finish. Lacks balance between the light, watery body and the strong bitterness. 150705
