Cloudy dark amber color. Strong malt aroma; yeast, caramel, liquorice. Good malty body, with a touch of sourness (less than the Winterbier). Very pleasant to drink.

Cloudy dark amber color; generous head. Deep malt aroma, liquorice, soy sauce. Quite malty; sour and aggressive, reminding some more famous Flemish (Duchesse de Bourgogne…). Interesting.

PINT-bokbier 2003: Cloudy dark color. Aroma is roasted malts and rye. Malty taste, bit sweet, bitter and dry altogether. I prefer these kind of bocks over the more sour and yeasty bocks i guess.

Very dark brown; yellow head, as if coloured with turmeric, reasonably stable. Nose with chalk, some chocolate malt. Nice herbal nose, a bit lactic, even fruity. Bitter-vinous taste, with a retronasal sour-sweet taste. Great balance, as retronasal, it swings again to bitter-tobacco-cigar notes. I've often liked Maasland products. Good full palate, gets leathery notes in the aftertaste (long lasting). Sorry, Silk, this is what I call complex. Much better than average. If somebody starts with an obligatory 'taste the Northern Lowlands', this might be included.

Bottled. Red-brown, hazy. Raisin and candi sugar aroma. Lightly acidic, medium bodied, notes of toffee. Sourish finish.

Nobody's had this? Must be some kind of score to get an obscure Dutch micro ahead of jbrus et al. Not to mention duff, since I had it at the Lowlander about four days after he was there. Anyway: opaque tan, huge orange and lemon zest aroma; malty body, marshmallow creaminess; aggressively spicy finish.

2001 version: Pale golden in colour and very hazy. Acidic nose. Full bodied, big fruity (apricot) flavour, rather sweet, a touch of wheat malt. Complex and unusual.
