Bottle. An almost clear one, dark golden to light amber in color and with a small, dense, off-white head. Spiced nose with ginger and cardamom, sugary maltyness and fruityness too. Spiced flavor too, a bit too spiced for my likings, or is it only the choice of spices, I don’t know. Sweet maltyness and a fruity touch too. Some toffee. Medium to full body, soft on the palate. Spiced and malty sweet finish. Well, not bad, just not my style. 111126

Bottle. According to the label, it’s pitch black, but it’s see through in the bottle. Well, I don’t expect a black beer then, and it turns out to be brown and clear, with a small, dense, off-white head. The aroma has a light touch of diacetyl, with coffee and chocolate and a pleasant hoppyness. Dry, medium bodied and smooth. Roasted malts, coffee and chocolate in the mouth. Roasted, caramel finish. A decent porter, but too British for my likings. I would like more flavor and complexity. 111126
