Bottle pour. Slightly amber colored but not much. Nose of sherry, raisin, cherry, rice. Flavor is definitely sherried, with dried fruits and some oak, just a bit of sweetness, but not at all cloying. Dry finish with a bit of oak. Very subtly done and tasty.

Glass at this years birthday shindig. Clear light yellow. Nose is citrus and melon. Tatses of lemons, honeydew, some pepper. Zippy finish and very smooth mouthfeel.

2-go served chilled in a glass vessel at Minoh Saryo kaisaki restaurant. Elegant nose, very floral, fruity, and spicy, citrus, pepper, cedar notes. Light but full, could not tell if it was junmai or not, as it was rather full for one that wasn’t. Lightly sweet, with a great peppery finish and no unnecessary booziness. Excellent.

Glass at Before 9. Slight yellow tint. A bit lactic, slightly funky rice, cream. Creamy flavor, citrus fruit. light and easy drinking, with some yamahai-like character.

Glass, chilled, at Wachi. Slightly cloudy (usunigori for real!), with lots of floaties. Looks a bit like a Japanese yogurt drink, with some taste similarities as well. Quite sour, with strong citrus, also milk, rice pudding. Sweet, with a full, lush body. Very interesting and complex. The nigori aspect, fresh and tart, is wonderful here. One of the best of the type I’ve had. Lovely.
