Description
Since 1996, we’ve been brewing in Blanco, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Texas Hill Country. When you get to make beer in a place like this, you develop a greater appreciation for the simpler things in life — fresh air, wide-open spaces, and working with your hands. We're proud to make beer with as little processing as possible. In addition to being unfiltered and unpasteurized, we never use preservatives or artificial colors. We start with water from the nearby Blanco River and the highest quality ingredients. Then we take the time to allow all the unique characteristics of the ingredients to shine. We believe doing less to the beer actually creates more complexity, aroma and flavor.

Bottle. A- Star anise, roasty. A- Black color, black liquid, light brown head. T- Star anise, roasty, cocoa, mild char. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Really solid RIS, especially for the price point. Traditional with lots of black licorice, cocoa, and roasted malt. Traditional and excellence. For the price one of the best RIS's I've had.

Bottle. A- Raisins, bubblegum, fruity esters. A- Black color, dark liquid, beige head. T- Fruity, banana, bubblegum, raisins, cocoa, roasty. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, fruity finish. O- Dark color, but not sure what else makes this a "black" quad. Pretty decent. Perhaps tastes more like a Triple than a quad. Overall, good.

Can. A- Grapefruit pith, slightly tart, mild coriander. A- Orange color, hazy liquid, white head. T- Grapefruit, slightly sour, tart, mild salt. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, refreshing finish. O- Grapefruit adds a nice flavor without being too bitter or astringent which it seems to do to some beers. A nice balance of sour and salt although I wouldn't mind a bit more tartness. Overall, pretty tasty on a hot day when the AC isn't working and it's 92 in your house.

12 oz can bought in Austin, TX. Pours a clear yellow color with a small white head and poor retention. Minimal lacing. Light body. Crisp mouthfeel. Light lemon-ish herbal lager flavor. The 25 IBU is very hidden. Okay.
