Description
Since 1996, we’ve been brewing in Blanco, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Texas Hill Country. When you get to make beer in a place like this, you develop a greater appreciation for the simpler things in life — fresh air, wide-open spaces, and working with your hands. We're proud to make beer with as little processing as possible. In addition to being unfiltered and unpasteurized, we never use preservatives or artificial colors. We start with water from the nearby Blanco River and the highest quality ingredients. Then we take the time to allow all the unique characteristics of the ingredients to shine. We believe doing less to the beer actually creates more complexity, aroma and flavor.

A surprise discovery today at the local HEB. I am always happy to find a new Real Ale brew. They continue to trot out a new one every once in awhile. The bargain-priced 22 oz bomber pours into my New Belgium tulip glass an opaque lemon-yellow liquid topped by a healthy snow white head that laces well. The nose gives a hint of citrus and also grain and biscuit. Unique taste, lemon, hops, crackers, a touch of spiciness and straw. Nicely bitter. In my mind less a Belgian ale than an enhanced blonde.

Direct from the bottle while stuck at Austin Airport. Aroma is tropical boquet, hints of mango. Taste is bittersweet trending sweeter at the finish. Overall the malt notes are more pronounced than a typical IPA. Some sticky clay-like notes. Body is medium. Okay.

On tap at Whip In, pours a clear golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out piney hops, dank notes and biscuity malt. Flavour is oily, with dank hops, pine and weed. Biscuity malt on the underside, with an oily finish. Not overly impressive, but very pleasant.

From Mar 2008

I got this in a trade with JDV. Thanks Deniz!

This is the 2007 vintage:

It pours a clear deep amber/copper with about a 1" head of foam from a vigorous pour. Good lacing here.

The smell is very fruity(dark fruit) and yeasty?
I also get a touch of caramel and some alcohol.

The taste is loaded with dark fruit...plum, black cherry, some fig, and they're pretty tart but tasty but I also get some sweetish notes from the malt and some tobacco. Nice. I think this is the fruitiest BWSA I've tried so far and it's a nice slant on the style me thinks.

The mouthfeel is kind of on the thin side and the carbonation is low(appropriate for a BWSA)and it finishes on the tart side because of the dark fruit. Pretty tasty fresh and I could see this would be interesting as to where it would go with a bit of aging on it. I'm certainly glad I got the chance to try it!

Can thanks to wombat23. Pours yellowish with a light haze. A frothy white head lingers. Aroma is a tropical boquet of mango, citrus, berry. Light pine and caramel undertones. Taste is bittersweet with citric notes. A rich malt backbone with plenty of caramel plays overall very nicely with the hops. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall a very nice and well balanced brew.

I got this bottle as an extra in a trade with JDV. Thanks Deniz!

This ours from 12oz bottle..hehe..the foam started rising to the mouth of the bottle as soon as I popped the cap but fear not, there was no loss of any ounces. It has a clear gold look in my SA glass and a very good 2 finger head of foam with some lacing.

The smell is of rye and citrus hops and not something that I'm used to smelling so I'm pumped to taste this bad boy.

The taste is a mix of rye and some good citrus(grapefruit and another that adds just a touch of sour) and it's quite pleasing to my palate. Nice and dry finish to it and the mouthfeel is on the light side. It's pretty easy to drink as well. The more sips I take, the more I notice the sourness but it's not overdone. It just adds, for me, to the drinkability. I could easily see myself kicking back a few of these in a session.

Thanks gain, Deniz. This was an interesting drinking experience.

From Dec 2007

I got this bottle as an extra after a trade with JDV. Thanks Deniz!

This beer pours from 12oz bottle a dark brown with red highlights and a small head of foam.

The smell has a nice malty nose, some sweetness and some roastiness.

The taste starts off with a solid malt backbone of roasted, caramel, and some biscuit malt with a bit of hop bitterness in the background to balance out the malt. When swishing the beer in my mouth, the biscuit becomes more pronounced and I taste some nutty flavour as well. Nice. It has a thin mouthfeel, the carbonation is medium, and it finishes with a slight bitterness. I like this English Brown Ale. Very eazsy to drink and quite tasty. My first sample from Real Ale Brewing and they've done a good job.

Thanks again, Deniz!
