I am not a huge fan of Mendocino brewing. This was my first time having this particular beer though. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer pours a cloudy pale yellow color with a large fluffy white head. The beer is heavily carbonated. The aroma is dry spicy wheat. The flavor is dry and lightly citrusy with a peppery spice element and a wheaty undertone. The finish is dry. Not bad.

Very light hop aroma with the flavor of a full bodied pale lager. Golden, like the style says but no head at all; nearly flat. Decent palate but little to enjoy. An ok session beer.

I am not particularly familiar with this brewer and this is my first tasting of this beer. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer pours a bright orange-gold color with a small white head. The aroma is fairly strong fruity and flowery hops with a faintly sweet undertone. The flavor is strong with floral hops and has a light vague fruity element. The beer has a fairly thick and strong body but is much dryer than I would have expected.

Thanks to Wawood for this one. Very much like a Scottich ale. Light amber color with a thin head that continues to float on the top of the beer. Heavy malt aroma and flavor; the hops are an afterthought. Very full bodied as far as amber ales go, with considerable malty sweetness.

Draft. Amber beer with a big off-white head. aroma is spicey/floral hops. Spicey hop flavor with sweet malts, some citrus, and some graininess. Fairly easy to drink, but the flavor is a little odd.

Bottled. Pale amber, rich head. Rich grapefruity hop aroma. Sweet and full bodied with clean, straightforward malt character and an abundance of hops that dominates every aspect of this beer. The bitterness is so big it turns almost inky. Flavourful, but bold and not overly complex example of the style.

Pour is a bright yellow like lemon juice. Aroma is odd, kind of a spicy lemon peel. Flavor is very tart and spicy. This beer almost could be considered a fruit beer with all of the citrus notes. Still it is just and ok brew.

I am not overly familiar with this brewer. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a light honey color with a medium sized yellowish head. The aroma is sour grainy malts with molasses underneath. The flavor is sweet and has noted molasses and caramel elements and a moderate hop presence. There are some nice elements to this beer but it did not hold together overly well for me.

Pour is black with a nice size head. Aroma is hoppy and slightly malty. Flavor is chocolate and hops with a nice caramal aftertaste. Nothing here to do back flips for but its pretty tasty and satisfying. Only $2.38 for a 22oz is also a plus.

2004-2005 bottle. Opaque dark coal-brown pour with a moderate amount of rich, tan head. Plenty of sediment in the bottom of the bottle. Aroma of light roast, lots of hops (light green hop smell, with some sweet orange and grapefruit in there), some chocolate and peanut brittle. Flavor begins with a strong roast, that is neither too dry or astringent, followed by sweet chocolate and caramel malts, well extracted and of course, the hops. Everything hangs in a very rounded balance, with a lightly gritty, medium-full to full body. You can really tell that they didn’t skimp on the malting and hops here, which was surprising to me, to be honest. Finishes moderately dry, with some Spanish coffee notes, hints of vanilla and light chocolate. Moderate carbonation does not harm the flow of the body. Little to no alcohol apparency. Bravo Mendocino Brewing!
