Description
Legend Brewing Company is a commercial microbrewery providing true premium beers to many of the best pubs and restaurants in Richmond and other areas of Virginia since January, 1994. Our mission is to bring to our customers the finest and freshest brews as flavorful alternatives to mass-marketed mainstream products. We're one of the few craft breweries in this region producing both lagers and ales, which require different yeasts and maturation conditions. All Legend beers are unpasteurized and made from only two-row and specialty barley malt, hops, water and yeast.

22 oz bottle. Medium amber/copper in color with a decent head. Hoppy/citrusy aroma, not overly strong, but not weak either- very pleasant. Nice citrusy hop flavor, with not a ton of malt- which is fine by me. Very flavorful.

22 oz bomber. Pours deep amber to a copper with an inch of head. Hoppy aroma- with some malt mixed in. Very nice flavor... decent balance between malts and hops, with earthy hops pushing forward. I like this one.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy golden amber with lotsa carbonation and a small white head. Sweet honey, coriander, and citrus in the nose. This beer’s a snap: into the motuh is a brilliant sweet flavor, and then in a snap dries out like you wouldn’t believe. Finishes with a dry sour apple flavor. I like this.

On tap at the brewpub on 11/18/2009. Dark black body with a medium creamy light brown head. Big chocolate aroma. Sweet chocolate flavor. Medium body with moderate carbonation. A bit over the top with chocolate for my tastes. 7/5/7/3/13 - 3.5 01/03/2006: Thick frothy tan head on a dark black body. Butterscotch and chocolate aroma. Strong butterscotch flavor but not much chocolate to it. 6/4/5/3/11 - 2.9

On tap. Black with almost no head. Light aromas of chocolate, but it’s quite weak. Flavor... oh, this is nice. Chocolate hits up front- but not overwhelmingly, followed by a slightly nutty taste, and finishes with a nice caramel flavor. "Smooth as butter" as my companion stated, this beer is nice.

Bottled. Pours nearly black with an inch of brown frothy head. Aromas are weak, but what’s in there is a slightly sour chocolate. Flavor... hmm... it’s very bland. Starts... hmm. There is no start, it just happens, but it’s unsweetened chocolate that lingers and lingers and lingers. This is my first legend beer. Unfortuantely, I’m unimpressed.

Bottle (22 oz). Pours brown with a small off-white head. Aroma of malts (caramel and nutty) and maybe a tiny bit of hoppiness. A nice, smooth nutty taste- not overpowering, but not weak.

Bottle at London Gathering Nov 2005. Copper colour with sediment in suspension, beige lasting head. Exploded on opening. Bit nasty on nose. OK in mouth with yeasty funkiness on end. Have given default score as not sure it was supposed to be like this. Original score of 1.4

2005 bomber many thanks to the_beer_God. Shared with Muzzlehatch on 11/4/05. Yellow-orange with a pale-gold/copper tinge to it. Vigorous amounts of bubbles rise to create a white head this is large initially, but almost immediately recedes to a ring, just as quickly as it can fizzle away. Tons of clove in the aroma, some dry nutmeg-like notes and a bit of bread on end. A touch of fruits, but a significant lack of malt sweetness/complexity and little banana/bubble gum. Flavor begins with a touch of dry, yellow fruits, lots of spicy cloves and light canned peach syrup. Light bread dough and wheat dryness but a nice wheat creaminess to the texture. The clove eventually overtakes all other flavors and the bottle can not be finished. Somewhat watery on end, after warming, with light carbonation.
