(Keg at Hell Hunt, 20141228) The beer poured black. Deep dark brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had toasted malts, caramel and mildly grass. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were grass, sweetness, caramel, roasted malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and bitter. A beer bordering between a sweet schwarzbier and a dunkel. Rather flawless but also quite bland.

50cl on tap at Pööbel, Tallinn. Clear ruby with a beige head. Malty and bready aroma with notes of caramel. Sweet and bready, reminds me a bit of kvass. A bit to much sweetness for my taste, but quite drinkable.

0,5L bottle, BB 10.10.14. Pours dark brown with light tan head. The small head stays. Aroma is faint sweet, sour, roast and metallic notes. Taste is sweet, caramel, roast, watery, some burnt sugar bitterness, some hops, and alcohol. Overall: not awful, ok example of dunkel.

50cl bottle from a supermarket in Tallinn. Pours clear golden with a white head. Moderate grainy aroma with hints sweet fruits and honey. Medium sweet with quite light bitterness in the finish. The usual pale lager, not much flavours but not any unpleasant elements either - just plain boring, but drinkable enough,

500 ml bottle. Pours quite clear brown with a dissipating bubbly head. Aroma is malty, sweet with some toffee, quite light. At least it doesn’t smell as wet cardboard. Taste is quite light but it’s there. Carbonation cleans your palate, some malty caramel giving way to a longer bitterness. Some roast in the taste. I can still understand this beer has been brewed in Karksi - it does have this distinctive watery malt character - but it could be one of my favourites from there.

Pours hazy pale with a small head. Aroma is somewhat sour - but definitely also has some malt and bread character. Taste is smooth, weak hops, somewhat sour. Aftertaste short. Something metallic and sour about this beer. All in all, I guess it works well when you are in sauna - but that’s it.
