12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy bright golden color with a 1-2 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, pineapple, floral, grass, light pine, light honey, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance of citrus/tropical hops and moderate pale malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, floral, grass, light honey, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon/orange zest, pine, light honey, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice balance and complexity of citrus/pine hops and moderate pale malt flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and some slightly cloying bitterness after the finish; but not too bad. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, crisp and sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with no warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice pale ale style. All around good complexity and balance of bright citrus/pine hops and moderate pale malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

22 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled in 9/2014. Pours fairly crystal clear deep orange/copper color with a 2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big raisin, plum, cherry, fig, apricot, apple, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toast, herbal, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity yeast, dark/bready malt, and earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big raisin, plum, cherry, fig, apricot, apple, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toast, herbal, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Fair amount of herbal/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, plum, cherry, fig, apricot, apple, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toast, herbal, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Outstanding complexity, balance, and robustness of fruity yeast, dark/bready malt, and earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy, and lightly slick mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an awesome English barlewine style! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity yeast, dark/bready malt, and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

Poured into shaker from bottle. Dark opaque brown with fair-sized tan head and some chocolate aroma. Not so much chocolate to the flavor, mainly just malt. Mildly bitter finish but not long - it’s too watery a beer to leave much of an aftertaste.

On tap @ the brewery. Clear dark reddish orange appearance siren a thin tan head. Aroma of grape drank, apple, candy, and brown sugar. Medium high sweetness. Dull bitterness. Gooey texture. Gushers / gummy candy flavor. Grape and apple forward. Dull carbonation. High boost. I suppose if you’re after a candy beer, this is OK.
