Description
Wold Top Brewery was founded in 2003 by arable farmers Tom and Gill Mellor. Based high on the Yorkshire Wolds where the hills roll down to the North Sea, ours is a family business that is run by the third and fourth generation Mellors and we pride ourselves on brewing superior quality beer from home grown barley and water that is gently filtered by the chalk of the Yorkshire Wolds and drawn from the farm's own borehole.

Bottle from the Balloon Tree Farm Shop, Gate Helmsley. Golden with a head. Has good depth for its low strength, with an excellent pale ale texture and taste, with a dryness and an underlying light tropical fruitiness.

Bottle from Morrisons – or maybe Tesco ! Fresh hops with a hint of citrus in the nose of this one. Pours a golden yellow with a large frothy white head. Medium carbonation with good lacing. Flavour has corn, malt and lemon with a tocuh of grapefruit. Fruitiness becomes more pronounced in the finish., as does the alcohol. A bit light coloured for a traditional IPA, but certainly hoppy enough. A very nice beer indeed – I’m getting to like IPAs in my old age !
