Description
Wold Top Brewery was founded in 2003 by arable farmers Tom and Gill Mellor. Based high on the Yorkshire Wolds where the hills roll down to the North Sea, ours is a family business that is run by the third and fourth generation Mellors and we pride ourselves on brewing superior quality beer from home grown barley and water that is gently filtered by the chalk of the Yorkshire Wolds and drawn from the farm's own borehole.

Cask, Philarmonic, Liverpool. Amber looks with a smallish but lingering white head. Nose was quite restrained with some citrus and grassy hop notes. Slightly sweet flavour with some decent fruit and hop bitterness that led to a dryish bitter finish. Clean, easy drinking and in good condition. Not bad at all.

Medium white head. Paleish yellow body with light carbonation. Light grainy strawy resiny aroma with soapy notes. Dry-sweet grainy fruity strawy taste with resiny notes. Mid-to-light body. Mild, soft, smooth mouthfeel, faintly slick. Dryish citric resiny aftertaste with mealy spicy herbal notes, sort of soapy. Really nice and extremely drinkable. (0.5l bottle, wine monopoly, Strømmen.)

Flaske 0,5l fra Vinmonopolet, Tromsø Sentrum. Veldig lys gylden med et OK skinnende hvitt luftig skum som fester seg litt til glasset. Forsiktig fruktig aroma. Smaken er søt frukt. Godt balansert. Tørr fruktig ettersmak. God tørsteslukker! KI=6

0.5l bottle. Pours a crystal clear golden body with a small quickly fading bubbly little lager-head. The aroma reminds me a lot of champagne-yeast. Some flowers, apples-like a cider and hints of hops and lemons. Soft on the carbonation level, medium-bodied and it has a mild oily mouthfeel. Somehow I expected it to be quite watery, but it wasn't. Tastes malty with a good dash of floral and zest-fruity elements. After a while it get's kinda old and a bit one dimensional. One of the better gluten free I've had though, and a absolutely OK alternative to those whom doesn't care to much for gluten in their systems, but not something I will have again. 14.01.2012

On tap @ Haymarket Bar. Pours golden with a good head. The nose has pine. The taste is more in the grapefruit pith. The palate is medium bodied with a medium weighted texture and a dry slightly astringent finish. Overall, a solid effort.

500 ml bottle, gluten free, new at Vinmonopolet. Export Strength - ABV is 4.8%. Golden colour, lagerish carbonation, but the white head is low. Sweetish fruity aroma, also notes of maize (corn). Lagerish mouthfeel, light bodied. Medium sweet flavour, maize and a little fruit, ending in a sharp and rather unpleasant bitterness. Little hop flavour besides the bitterness. As I don’t suffer from coeliac disease, this is not a beer I will buy again.
