Gravity cask at the Duke of Wellington, London on 30 July 2010. Clear copper with offwhite foam head and virtually no lacing. Fruity (berries) aroma with mainly berry friuts and malts in main kick, but a developing bitter finish. Light textured mouthfeel. Strangely likeable.

Gravity cask at the Pembury Tavern on 21st July 2010 during their summer festival. Gold, thin lacing white head. Light, hoppy and very rounded with a malty undertone, smooth velvety and slightly oily texture, and a bittersweet finish.

[500ml bottle from Perns of Helmsley] Ruby brown with a negligible creamy head and a slight fizz. Strong malty aroma. Sweet chocolate malt on tasting with some treacle and a little ctrus bitterness in the finish. Quite thick mouthfeel. It’s OK, but I’m bemused as to the link with summer. It’s strong, rich, sweet and a little viscous - surely it’d be better aimed at autumn or winter...?
