Description
Third Circle is an independent Irish microbrewery that has its beginnings in Kilcoole, Co Wicklow, where Third Circle director and brewer Jon Grennan grew up. In common with many Third Wave craft brewers, Jon's journey into the industry began with home brewing where he developed a fascination and love for the art and science of beer.

Third Circle beers are now crafted in Dublin at Third Barrel Brewery, where Jon's love for both precision and experimentation are feeling the creation of some exciting new brews. The company's core beliefs are simple: brew with balance, good taste and curiosity. Third Barrel Brewery was founded in Bluebell Avenue, Dublin in collaboration with friends at Stone Barrel Brewing.

Can at home, from Yards & Crafts online, 03/03/22. Extremely dark mahogany brown verging on light black and topped with a good sized khaki head that clears to a swirl in time. Nose is toffee, light roast, raisins, dried fruit esters, brown bread, dusty hops, dark malts. Taste comprises mellow roast, liquorice, dark malts, light pine nip, tropical fruit back notes, ashen tones, light charr, fruit slice. Medium bodied, fine massaging carbonation, semi drying close with a good spike of nuanced hop bitterness. Solid for this random sub genre ... certainly has a CDA meets logger vibe about it.

Can at home, from Yards & Crafts online, 27/12/21. Black with a good sized tan head. Nose is roast malts, raisins, dried fruit rinds, ashen notes, trace of coffee. Taste comprises bitter roast, charr, dark fruit rinds, cocoa sprinkle, ashen tones, light spice. Medium bodied, fine to light prickly carbonation, light dryness in the close. A decent well made stout ...maybe lacking coffee presence for me having being billed as such ... but a good roasty bite and everything you want from a 5% stout.
