Founded in 2016 by James Ward, Lough Gill Brewing Company aims to restore the lost tradition of brewing to Sligo town, a small town that once hosted 5 breweries. The idea stemmed from an ever-growing passion for brewing delicious beer and a unique opportunity of various skill sets and business synergy.

Can at home shared with Laura. Opaque black color, small off-white head. Aroma is malts, dark malts, whiskeylightly peaty notes but in this case so light it adds another great layer of complexity to the beer. Flavor is similar, with more whiskey. Lightly boozy. Delicious. Really nice this one.

Can at home shared with Laura. Opaque black color, small light brown colored head. Aroma and flavor are malts, soft bourbon, dark malts, quite hard to describe actually. Nice palate though, solid body and suitable carbonation. Solid, but not as great as some others I've tasted.

Can shared with Laura. Opaque black color, small off-white to beige head. Aroma and flavor are malts, roasted malts, a hint of peppers in the flavor, light liquorice hints, light bourbon coming through the firm oatmeal malt base. Pleasant bitterness, malt bitterness, light chocolate hints even. Pleasantly viscous, suitable carbonation, pleasant medium body. Really nice.

440ml can @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, April 23. Misty gold appearance, large white head. Assorted confectionary hop aroma, not as sweet or hoppy to taste, malt is prominent.. but still a nice IPA with distant juicy moments.

17th April 2023; Shrewsbury Beer Exchange in Chez Sophie, five guys drinking and chatting with plenty of snacks. Thanks Mat for the 440ml can of this: BBE September 2023. Misty pale gold with a white head. Citrusy and hoppy nose/taste, semi-bitter finish.

--Sample, thanks fonefan! -- Very dark brown, small tan head. Rich aroma of oaky whiskey and chocolate. Mid sweet with medium to full body and rounded mouthfeel. Chocolate mud cake, figs and potent whiskey. Intensely warming oaky finish.

330ml can. jet black colour with small to average, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, tan head. Bourbon supported, sweet-ish, chocolately, dark malty aroma, notes of dark toffee, dark chocolate, dark caramel. Taste is sweet-ish, chocolately, dark malty, notes of dark toffee, dark chocolate, dark caramel, Bourbon; minimally warming, alcoholic finish. Viscous texture, smooth and soft, slightly cloying palate, fine, soft carbonation. Intense but rather monotonous - OK.

--Sample, thanks fonefan! -- Almost clear pale amber, mid sized head. Generous aroma of prickly pears, passionfruit and grapefruit. Mid sweet with light to medium body and clean mouthfeel. Fruity crisp bread, dragonfruit and citrus. Low bitterness.
