Description
Anchor is America’s first and oldest craft brewery, with roots dating back to the California gold rush. Today, our beers are handmade from an all-malt mash in our traditional copper brewhouse. Our process combines the time-honored art of classical craft brewing with carefully applied, state-of-the-art modern methods.

Bottle. Black, dark brown lacing cream. Licorice and roast aroma, light umami. Medium full body, mellow, creamy. Dry, roasted, dark cocoa, salt licorice, a hint soy sticking, good bitter backbone, coffee retronasal. Intense, satisfying sip.

Bottle, Bierzwerg. Clear amber, offwhite head. Heather honey malt nose. Medium light body, some crunchy chewiness. Malt forward, hay, herbal bitterness, heather, flowery, light metallic bitter quick finish. Pleasant enough.

Finally having this beer before it sinks to the bottom of the ocean floor. It’s malty, funky, sweet, and I can understand they’re going under. Don’t feel too bad, they sold out to Sapporo for $85mil about five years ago.

0.355 l can from 'Beer Republic', canned in January 2023. Almost clear, orangeish amber with a large, frothy, stable, white head. Sweetish, quite fruity-resiny, gently floral aroma of orange jam, mango, grapefruit and pine. Gently sweet, moderately bitter, rather fruity-floral, gently resiny taste of orange jam, grapefruit, mango and pine, followed by a short, quite bitter, slightly dry finish. Medium to full body, smooth and gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Tasty IPA, nicely bitter with old school flavours. Maybe my last beer from Anchor ever.

Opaque dark blond colour with lasting thin head. Aroma and flavour have quite a lot of mandarin juice. Some pithy bitterness too.
