[Cask at Volunteers Arms, GBBF 2006] A hazy orange beer with an orange head. The aroma is sweet hoppy with a slight hint of sulphur. The flavor is sweet malty with a good hop presence, but also light notes of nuts.

[Cask at GBBF] Amber colour. Grapefruity hop aroma. Medium sweet with fairly soft mouthfeel and soapy perfumy hoppiness. Mildly malty, citric and refreshing. Medium bitterness.

Cask@Bon Accord, Glasgow. Dark golden honey color, small creamy head. Good fruity hoppy nose - some pine needles. Good hoppy, fresh "pine wood" bitterness. Very good session ale.

Cask@Cask & Barrel, Edinburgh. Pale golden yellow color, good steady white creamy head. Lemony hoppy nose. Lemony hoppy with good bitterness. Good "IPA" despite of low ABV. Just finishing a bit too watery.

Cask half-pint at NERAX on 5/4/06. Weakly copper-bronze body with some beige overtones and a foamy beige head that is moderately well-retained. Toasty malt in the nose, with some very dry cherry wood-like notes and a few dashes of white pepper thrown in. Lightly spicy hops are minimal, and disappear even moreso as the beer warms, contributing strength to a lightly sweet, almond-vanilla-like maltiness. The flavor is definitely fruity, with cherries, apples and very light orange notes, well yeasty for sure. Toasted notes keep things dry, as the lightly sweet pale malts never really take over, but do provide ample substance, creating a cohesive texture. Carbonation is quite high and the finish is crisp with soily hops and touches of minerals. Big fan of Kelburn, from the two beers I’ve had thus far.

Cask half-pint at NERAX on 5/3/06. Quickly receding white head forms a large ring of bubbles on the edge, while the liquid is a highly clear, soft yellow-golden color, with an almost very light moss-green tint and some sharper brass tones.The nose has just the barest hint of lively fruits, tucked under a doughy yeast with some very bare pale malts. There is a light dose of sweetness, but it is fleeting. Hops also show some dustiness, though for English hops, they are quite clean and well-stated, tickling the senses somewhat and providing more than average aroma strength for a very light golden ale. No diacetyl here, that’s for sure. Opens up rather watery, as expected, with dusty, plant-like hops running in to the palate quickly. Slowly, but surely, some very minor citrus notes show up, adding some light bitterness and almost a tea-leaf-like note of dryness. My biggest issue with the flavor, however, was that it seemed rather worty. Bits of very low gravity wort sweetness, slightly sticky-chewy, diluted by water. Still, for all that, the hops are gentle and delicate, adding just a touch of bitterness. Almost becomes a beer just as an afterthought. Apropriate, engaging, light carbonation, with no looseness or thinning. Certainly no alcohol. Take my "tastes worty" with a grain of salt because I know nothing about true English beers.

Cask, Edinburgh. Clear copper color, short off-white head. Aroma of hop. Bitter taste. Quite regular, nothing to get excited about.

[Cask at GBBF 2005] A hazy brown beer with a nice brown head. The aroma is sweet notes of caramel, and I also pick up slight notes of wheat? The flavor is cask flat with lots of caramel, chocolate, and toffee as well as lighter notes of wood. The end is bitter with notes of chocolate.
