Can from Drankenhandel Leiden. Piney and malty IPA with notes of grapefruit, pine resin, hint of caramel, orange. Medium bitter flavour, light sweetish. Plenty of grapefruit, pine, malt. Classic IPA.

Can from Drankenhandel Leiden. Aroma is light hoppy with citrus, floral notes, wheat. Moderate bitter flavour, lightly sweetish. Easy beer.

Popular brown bar or bruin café with a terrace outside. Sat inside because the terrace was too crowded, but didn't mind enjoying the nice interior instead at all. Surprisingly good tap list with 3 Fonteinen, Omnipollo and Spartacus on when I visited. Bottle/can menu is pretty serviceable as well, they do keep a bunch of Lambics in the cellar. Service was a bit inconsistent: the guy serving us was super friendly and talkative, enthusiastic about beer, but once he took a break we were not served anymore. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt for now, and I'll have to revisit for sure.

Visited on a saturday afternoon, sat on the terrace so didn't really get a look at the interior. A pretty large and serviceable terrace I might add. Tap selection was decent, almost all Dutch with some familiar breweries including Uiltje, Jopen, Bax Bier. The two Uiltje taps were vacant at the moment, so the online beer menu was not up to date. There's a bottle/can menu as well. Overall a bit middle-of-the road, no real surprises, one can do worse, or better (Koppelpaarden).

Bottle from Drankenhandel Leiden. Dried dark and red fruit, brown malts, spicy yeast, caramel, raisins. Moderate to medium sweet. Decent enough.

From tap at De Koppelpaarden, Assen. Funky and sour with tart red fruits, blackberry, barnyard funk. Tart and medium sour, mild puckering flavour. Not too acidic. Nice blackberry aroma.
