Decent Nicholson's pub in the middle of Glasgow. It has a wonderfully opulent feel, and it's slightly quieter than many pubs on a Thursday evening. Now, I used to love this chain but after the Covid lock downs they pared down the beer choice and in my opinion never fully recovered. However I was able to get a tick from the seven handpumps. Good news: I got it on a dimpled jug. Bad news: it was far too warm for my liking. The menu is standard Nicholson's fare with some added local choices (e.g. Balmoral chicken and cranachan). Worth a look in.

Handpull cask at the Drum & Monkey, Glasgow.light to mid-gold, hazy with a very thin layer of white head. Fresh juicy aroma: tangerines, pineapples, maybe a hint of lychee with that tiny touch of vanilla malt. Sweet taste, very fruity but with a light hoppy bitterness nearer the finish. Body is a little thin with no carbonation. Not too bad by any means.

Youth oriented late night cafe bar off a city centre alleyway. Crikey, I might be twice the age of the next oldest person here. It's dark and BoHo and convivial. A few easily available beers on draught, plus some cans behind the bar. A good selection of low/no options. Not a place for an old ass like me, but probably decent otherwise.

Comely old-fashioned bar in the city centre. Massive island bar in the centre. Three cask beers available - two Stewarts and Landord - plus the usual macro suspects. Worth coming in for the charisma of the building but it doesn't have all that much to recommend it beerwise.

440ml can at the Allison Arms, Glasgow. Dark, almost black, almost opaque. Coffee, treacle, Marmite on the nose. Taste is sweet with syrupy coffee and a bitvof 9ak. A bit artificial but still very nice. Coffee grounds bitterness in the finish. Excellent stuff.

Draught keg at the Koelschip Yard, Glasgow. Light yellow gold and clear with a small foamy white head and a fair bit of lacing. Grainy Jones, some lemon and a touch of brett. Very balanced taste with the sugary sweetness being kept in check. Wonderful attenuation. Dry finish with gentle notes of lime in the aftertaste. Light to medium body, fairly heavily carbonated. Damn.

Incredible beer bar on Pollokshaw Road South of Glasgow centre. Take one of the short and frequent buses that'll land you here. On the outside its just another of the many pubs lining the street, but ho in and you'll find a veritable beer haven. It's called Koelschip Yard for a reason - there are loads of lambics and other wild beers - but there's also a draught and can/bottle lost awash with other styles. The beer isn't cheap because its the highest quality stuff. A fantastic place that cannot be missed!

Lambic in a box from Koelschip Yard, Glasgow. Vinous purple red and a little clear with almost no head. Tart with notes of red wine and balsamic vinegar. Sour taste with a big grape sweetness. Slightly more funk in the finish. Light body with no carbonation. A joy to try.

Draught from BrewDog Glasgow. Light to mid-gold and hazy with an uneven white head. Satsuma, some tropical fruit, a little dank on the nose. Clean taste, sweet but never overly so followed by an insistent but gentle bitterness. Light-ish body with very little carbonation. This is very good all in all.
