Retired American Luddite and refugee of the 2018-2024 Ratebeer/Anheuser-Busch (InBev) fiasco. Thanks Brewver for the chance to continue rating! ....... and yes, I'll soon be a supporter! ........ Since 1968, I've enjoyed all kinds of cheap macro pale lagers, starting with Carling Black Label bottles I found in Grampa Gino's wine cellar! Later, my dad had faves like Old Mil, Strohs, Bud, Coors Light and Piels! They were all good for a budding youngster like me. My ratings aren't to style, but how much I liked it. Thus, my fave styles; lambic, wild & flemish, rate much higher than IPA since I don't like bitter hoppy beers. You like IPA? The lower my IPA rating, the better according to style! There, you have it! Easy peezy, no worries!

Sweet peach nose on a beer that pours almost like an orange-ish hefe but with a whiter rocky head. First taste indicates many wheat ale characteristics, sharply bitter, almost astringent. A little bit of that immature brewer attitude comes thru in the middle and remains. Doesn't hide the alky content well. Towards the end, the peach is trying to make things better but its not helping. Not really enjoying this, its way too much like the uncivilized poorly made wheat ales of the domestic varieties. Come now NR, you can be more cultured, developed and refined than this.

$1 can off the clearance rack at JR's. Pour is totally clear with a pale light orange tint. Odd peach nose with no hint of mango on the olfactory. First taste tho, is primarily mango with a hint of peach in the background. Not one for peach or mango beers but this one is not getting on my nerves, yet. In the middle, there is a bit of a cloying effect building. Yes, this is a sweeter brew fer sure and its pretty much absent of any tartness. I think a little tartness would add lots of points. In the end, it could also use a bit more carbonation to keep it somewhat refreshing, otherwise it comes across rather weary on the finish. Maybe could only do one of these, fer sher.

Cheap can pour nearly clear pale with a head that fades rapidly to nuttin. Very nice mild sweet tropical fruit nose. First taste is some tropical cocktail can of fruit followed by some distinguishable heat. Not lots of heat, just enough to let you know there is pepper in there. Yes, not much for fruit cocktail flavored beers but the heat in this at least makes it interesting. Has a good level of carbonation that also keeps it compelling. Forget the tropical thing and just keep the pepper catawba! Yes, if I could ditch the tropical fruit thang, this would be a total winner for me. On the finish, the juicy fruit gum tropical thing really starts to get on my nerves but the follow up with the heat keeps me looking for more.
