Bottle from Against The Grain. Hazy orange body with a thin off-white head. Low carbonation. Patchy lacing. Aroma of yeast, banana and straw. Flavour of salted bread, yeast and dried apricot. Medium to full body with a frothy mouthfeel. Soft fizz. I enjoyed this, although (to me at least) it looks and tastes more like a tripel than a barleywine.

Bottle from House Of Trembling Madness. Hazy golden body with a thick off-white head. Fine carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of underripe pineapple and dried grass. Flavour of peach and orange pith. Medium body with a slick texture. Soft fizz. A smooth beer, almost cask-like in texture. It’s a touch sharper than I expected.

Can from House Of Trembling Madness. Milky deep golden body with an off-white head. Low carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of blood orange, salted white bread and vine tomatoes. Flavour of pink grapefruit and melon with a peppery hop finish. Medium to full body with a chewy mouthfeel. Soft fizz. This is good and hides the ABV well. Honestly though, I hoped I’d enjoy it more than I did.
