6 ounce at the Scott's Addition location - dark ruby, pours still - had the base beer the other day, but the barrels have really elevated this - huge nose of treacle, plum, brandy, oak, vanilla, brown sugar, port wine - slick mouthfeel - full body - sweet without being cloying - warming without being boozy - plum, raspberry jam, brined cherry, port, oaky tannins, apple brandy - finish is super jammy and warming, with moderate whiskey coming to the fore - warming, long-lingering oakiness in the finish - it's pretty great, actually.

Draft pint at the Scott's Addition location - lightly hazy gold - nicely dry and crisp, with a strong rusticity - moderate spicy phenolics that play well with the herbal and grassy hops - flinty finish, with a very light bugginess - very slight sweetness peaks through at the end, giving a light white grape quality before a long, dry, moderately spicy finish - I dig it.

Pint can - the label says “farmhouse ipa” - I am not sure what is farmhouse about it, but it is pretty tasty - lots of bright citra and herbal mosaic hops, along with the more old school bitterness of the Amarillo - more bitter than most hazy ipas, so kind of splits the difference between west coast and hazy - spicy finish - I dig it.

Draft of Scott’s Addition location - dark ruby beer - rough and ready rendition - leans closer to traditional British in character - deeply malty, lots of treacle and caramel - some dark fruit - mild bitterness - finish had a slight medicinal character - was hoping for better.

Can - was feeling in a hazy ipa kinda mood and this highest just fine - the cashmere hops really pop here, and there is a nice spiciness to it, as well- grassy, herbal, slightly catty (but not in a bad way) - soft in the mouth and medium sweet - nothing I’ll remember tomorrow, but tasty enough.

Can purchased from the brewery - pours a dark ruby - fizzy, but no head - presents more barleywine than stout - treacle, dark fruit, light oxidation - the rye barrel is pretty forward through the middle - finish brings in stout elements of chocolate and a little smoke - this is also the moment the bourbon comes through and lasts into the finish - finish is a little hot, but not terribly so - it’s pretty good!

12 ounce at the brewery - hazy gold - super dry, moderately bitter, mildly spicy - semi-rustic grain/straw character - really mild background bugginess - finish is grassy, with some touches of white pepper - finish is a touch watery, but it’s pretty good.

Bottle from the brewery - this is around the time of year I really start jonesing for some barleywine - and for some reasons in Colorado, the shit just doesn’t show up until March for some reason - not a single fucking barleywine in my local bottle shops - not even Bigfoot - so when I saw this at the brewery today I was like, fuck it; I’m desperate - even though I know River North, despite their prowess at high abv beers, can never seem to get barleywine right - anyway, this one pours turbid amber - minimal lace - some earthy malt and wheat - but of brined cherry - some oxidation and sherry notes - light oak and whiskey - finish is a little hot - lingering spicy oak - a little rough around the edges, but one of their better attempts.
