10 ounce at the brewery - black pour with a moderate tan lace - nose is rich bourbon and oak, coconut, chocolate, vanilla - creamy texture - bourbon is a bit heavy and boozy - earthy malt, chocolate, heavy whiskey, moderate oak - a bit sugary and watery in the finish - alcohol heat numbs the tongue like an antiseptic - meh.

4 ounce at the Overland location - nearly black pour - heavy on the fudge and moderate on roasty malt character - blueberry is far in the back - body is moderate for the strength and alcohol is masked enough - would like more heft and complexity here, and it is mostly chocolate and mild blueberry with a fairly bland finish - haven't had any iteration of this beer in a couple years, so I am assuming the base is the new batch - if so, not impressed and this beer has fallen off in quality, as previous iterations have actually been pretty great.

Have been here a bunch of times but never reviewed - since I am leaving Denver, I'd better get in these ticks before I go! - not so great location that occupies what used to be Declaration Brewing (which was NOT good) - Ratio appears to be doing much better here despite a lot of breweries down this corridor shuddering - though I never see it super busy here - this location typically has more of their experimental and strong beers on tap than their flagship location in RiNo, which often just has their standard line up - one BA barleywine and two iterations of Genius Wizard currently - large patio and smallish interior that is comfy nonetheless - about 20 beers on tap in total, but my one gripe is that most of the time have all the same beers (but that is common of all their locations) - what I do appreciate is they charge 8-10 a pour for strong and barrel aged stuff while most breweries in town are now at up to 14, which is nuts - staff is always welcoming and friendly - it is a cozy place to hang, but is essentially tucked under an overpass - I typically come here while on the way to something else, but never make a trip just to come here, if that says anything.

8 ounce at the Overland location - clear dark amber - nose is straightforward traditional british - treacle, plum, earthy malt, light barrel presence, light oxidation - on the flat side in the mouth, but that is not out of spec for the style - again, pretty textbook british, where earthy malt is the showcase, with some dark fruit and sherry/oxidation - not terribly complex, but is done well - the barrel treatment is subdued and the alcohol, while warming, is fairly well-hidden - it's good.

Can - oh my, they did this one right - turbid gold - creamy and full texture in the mouth - bready but dry, with a light tartness on the back end - big white pepper spiciness, with background clove notes - simultaneously refreshing and full - not quite as good as Weihenstephaner, but man is it close.

Pint at the Aurora Arts location - clear gold - lively carbonation kicks up a thick, foamy head - clean and light, with some grassy and peppery saaz bite, with some herbal and citric notes underneath - a hint of lemon - very clean malt - light while also bringing a bready malt richness - it's pretty darn good.
