Grew up in England and developed a taste for English ales. Traveled a lot to Belgium and surrounding countries and grew to appreciate these European styles. Traveled to USA a fair bit, starting in the dark days when it was a beer desert, and then enjoying the flourishing microbrewery scene. Moved in 1994 to Australia which was then a beer desert, so grew to appreciate the excellent Aussie wines and my own homebrew. Now there is a flourishing microbrewery scene in Aus, which is great. I travel a lot to Asia, which was generally grim for beer, although with some interesting pockets of excellence there if you looked hard; but now several countries have good craft beers. I was a RateBeerian for 18 years (Oct 2007 until its demise in 2025), with username Pyobon.

(Can - labelled Alpine Lager but the description is Alpine Extra Pale Lager, and from the aroma I am pretty sure this is the XPL) Pours clear gold with decent white head. Lovely aroma of of orange with stone fruit hints. Medium body with fine carbonation. The fruity orange notes are present in the start and mid palate. From then bread notes follow and then peppery spices. Subtle biscuit malt. Modest bitterness. Very drinkable.

(Can) Pours very dark brown with short-lived tan head. Aroma has plenty of coconut and notes of vanilla. Medium body with good bright carbonation. There’s a pleasant stout background to the flavour. There’s plenty of coconut and vanilla throughout the palate with a nice chilli bite growing in the finish. There’s also some pleasant chocolate notes. The flavours work well together. Pleasant and very drinkable.

(Can) Pours cloudy amber with small white head. Orange and stone fruit aroma. Medium body with bright carbonation. Taste has a good balance of fruity tartness, toffee malt and hoppy bitterness. Pleasant, easy drinking. --- Beer aliased from original tick of Cloud Catcher on 02 Mar 2018 at 13:16 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 6.5. Original review text: (Bottle) Pours clear amber with tiny loose white head. Lovely aroma of grapefruit with hints of stonefruit. Light bodied with plenty of rather fizzy carbonation. Pleasant hop driven taste with background light malt. Very drinkable, but not a stand out.

(Can) Pours clear golden with short-lived white head. Subtle aroma with notes of grain and candy and hints of apple and cardboard. Light body with bright carbonation. Quite unpleasant taste. There’s a sugary sweetness, subtle at first, that grows through the palate leaving an unappealing finish. There’s some tartness at the start, but it reminds me of carbonated water. There’s some grain in the mid palate. Really quite unpleasant… but, I did drink it, so not too bad. Might make a reasonable drink, served very cold, with some really fiery Korean food.
