Grew up in England and developed a taste for English ales. Traveled a lot to Belgium and surrounding countries and grew to appreciate these European styles. Traveled to USA a fair bit, starting in the dark days when it was a beer desert, and then enjoying the flourishing microbrewery scene. Moved in 1994 to Australia which was then a beer desert, so grew to appreciate the excellent Aussie wines and my own homebrew. Now there is a flourishing microbrewery scene in Aus, which is great. I travel a lot to Asia, which was generally grim for beer, although with some interesting pockets of excellence there if you looked hard; but now several countries have good craft beers. I was a RateBeerian for 18 years (Oct 2007 until its demise in 2025), with username Pyobon.

(Can) Pours hazy straw colour with small loose white head. Pleasant aroma with notes of lemon and hints of pepper. Light body with plenty of carbonation. Pleasant taste if rather low key. There’s lemon notes up front that are joined with peppery notes that grow through the palate to a gentle bitter finish. Hints of biscuit. Quaffable, easy drinking.

(Can) Pours slightly hazy amber with small cream coloured dense head. Intense aroma - primarily dank with notes of stone and tropical fruits, and hints of caramel. Great mouthfeel. Full bodied, smooth and slightly sticky with fine bright carbonation. Taste is also intense and a fair bit going on. There’s a backbone of toffee sweetness. At the start there is some brief fruity tang. Dank hops cut in quickly and continue through the palate. The alcohol picks up mid palate and gives a distinct spirit like burn towards the end of the palate. There’s a mildly bitter, dank and alcohol burn long finish. Wow! What a beer. Not for the faint hearted. It all fits together weirdly well. Really enjoying it, and expect it may take a while to finish. Will be interesting to see how the flavours evolve as it warms up.
