From the Brotherhood stash. I was thinking of decanting this into a panda but it was such a gusher I decided it would be too much effort. Opaque ruby red. Thick foamy pink tinged head, with dece lacing. Aroma is earthy and beetroot dominated but there is an underlying citrus sourness. Flavourwise it's sour - vinous and citrusy- before definite earthy slightly acidic beetroot appears. Peripheral spice. Light. Thin. Soft-fizzy buoyant carbonation. Is this interesting or just odd? I think the answer is both plus a dollop of confusion. And it does ultimately work, even if it's not a beer I would be looking to have again.

In theory I could have added three seperate venues. Yes,.there is a museum shops which sticked bottles from Bathams and Black Country Ales. However there are also not one but two operating historical pubs. Firstly the Elephant & Castle which is set in the 50s and thus serves cask beers that would have been available. Forget the name of the brewery,.but they have a Hldens lager that is bottled just for them so as to meet historical requirements. And I had a tick Inqas after - the new Bathams Alcohol Free. The pub is a recreation of a Wolverhampton pub. However it is very accurate because the company that produced the exterior tiles still had the original molds. Inside it was spartan but didn't check out the lounge. There's also then the Bottle & Glass Inn which is supposed to be set in 1915. Sawdust on the floor. Rustic wooden furniture. Fewer beers. I had a Black Country Ales tick. Interesting Museum, cool little pubs. Service is never going to be bad as the staff are all historical reenactors.

This is a random place. We entered via the rear carpark and the first thing I spotted is the abandoned invalid carriage. And then entering the rear bar - once my eyes had grown accompanied to the gloom - a massive old school electric organ. Not a particularly exciting room, but quite a few old dudes and then some guys on long Friday lunches (Dudley BC hig vis jackets, etc). The bar had some nice.carnival glass lightshades but neither of us could work out what was written in the chalk beer board on the rear wall of the bar (no pump clips) as it was that poorly lit. However we then went to the front room - more of a dining room - which had the sun streaming through the large windows, illuminating the period features including a lovely painted fire place. My mate had been here before and we both wondered where the barman had disappeared to when he got our beers. It transpired that there were other rooms that my mate had never noticed. The barman who'd initially appeared quite blunt and unwelcoming then offered is a tour and let us go via the serving areas. Lovely period features in a lounge, a smoking room sat in the middle of the pub, and another bar to the front. There was only one other customer sat in the other rooms so perhaps they get overlooked?! The beers were OK - four of their beers (a 5th was off and the only guest beer is Carling. Had a decent black pudding and cheese cob. Would definitely head back just to take in the interiors again.

This is a good example of why opening hours on here are best double-checked because Google Maps.had different hours. This also confused my mate.because when I suggested going at 5 he explained that the miserable basteward who ran the place had reduced opening hours when he took over. What my mate didn't realise was that a new landlady has.taken over recently and extended the opening hours. In fact despite at one point living over the road my mate hadn't been in The Stump for a number of years. After our visit he in fact went back the next day. As per Mr Sint's review, it is a characterful pub that's full of old school character and characters. The barman was very helpful and went to fetch tasters from the other bar. Had two new ticks from the 8 cask options (kinda more widely available breweries like Salopian, Oakham, Blue Monkey, etc). More of a pub to suck up the atmosphere than the ticks.

When I was preparing for a crawl around Sedgley I spotted this place on Google Maps, and that yellow beer site suggested there may be ticks. Mentioned it to my mate who confirmed that both he and his Mrs were regulars, especially for open mic nights on a Sunday. Unassuming old school parade of shops location. Three or four picnic tables outside. Inside I guess it has a more modern bar style - albeit not swanky - very much a locals place. The owner is very welcoming and enthusiastic about his beers. Talked us through them, but had the wrong audience when he was telling us how Guinness would soon be available More trad focused than craft. Had ticks from Salopian and Wye Valley. If we'd stayed longer could have also had ticks from ABK and Oakham. Definitely a decent locals micropub, and may get a tick or two. Wasn't very busy at 17:00 on a Friday but my mate sent a photo showing that it was rammed the following evening.

Can from Bottle & Stoat, Southampton. Clear if slightly opaque gold. Thin foamy white head. Aroma has soft juicy citrus and a slight bitterness over doughy malts and yeast. Flavourwise it's sweet and malty. Then develops a bitterness - herbal and citrus. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Soft pillowy carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Nice.
