L'Imbeertinence Béthune (Béthune, France 🇫🇷)

8.2/10 — Setting 8 Selection 9 Service 9 Food Value 7 Overall 8

Located a short walk from Bethune's main square. Easy to miss walking past as you have to walk down a walkway off the street before you get to the entrance. Quite a smart looking place with nice decor, it seems this is as much of a cafe serving bistro food and excellent looking cheesecake, as well as a bar, with a large, comfortable seating area upstairs. Next to the bar there's a kind of bottle shop with a very impressive range of beers, some barrel-aged and wild one-offs and lesser-spotted options from Spain and the UK. No prices given, but there is a menu that may give you an idea, otherwise you'll have to take a chance. Around 8 taps, I got a stout from OSO of Madrid, hazy IPA from Soma and a collab between the bar and Hoppy Road. Really great place in Bethune. Hopefully it will stay, unlike the previous craft bar here before.

75cl bottle after a ride to Bethune and back. Pours clear gold. Lovely medium, some leafy shades, soft tannin, nicely presented.

Kaiserwin from Frankenthaler Brauhaus (Frankenthal, Germany 🇩🇪)

500ml can from Noz. Pours a cloudy gold, inch-thick white head. "100% German Flavor" according to the label. Satisfying hefe, moderate sweetness, there are less flavoursome budget hefes out there.
