0.75 l bottle from the brewery's web shop, best before December 2029. Very dark ruby with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Intensely sweetish-malty, gently fruity and slightly boozy aroma of molasses, raisins, prunes and some alcohol. Heavily sweet, malty, moderately bitter, gently fruity and slightly boozy taste of molasses, raisins, prunes, cough syrup, light chocolate and a touch of licorice root, followed by a long, moderately bitter, a little boozy finish. Full body, smooth and oily mouthfeel, very soft carbonation. Great winter warmer, extremely syrupy, not too boozy.

0.75 l bottle from 'Het Huis van de Geuze', 2023 vintage. Slightly hazy, golden with a medium large, slightly fluffy, quickly diminishing, white head. Slightly sweetish, sourish, heavily funky and rather fruity aroma of overripe lemon, apple, quite some horse blanket, gooseberry and some oak. A little sweetish, gently sour, fairly dry, quite funky and rather fruity taste of horse blanket, apple, oak, overripe lemon, a touch of gooseberry and hints of white pepper, followed by a medium long, gently tart, fairly woody-dry finish. Medium body, slightly astringent and rather effervescent mouthfeel, lively carbonation. Superbly crafted beverage, quite complex but also highly drinkable. Serves perfectly as an apéritif, or just as a thirst-quencher in the summer.

Quite sweet, malty, moderately bitter, slightly floral taste of grains, straw and some honey, followed by a medium long, gently bitter, a little grassy finish.
