One of the world’s great breweries. The building itself is a work of art, literally. More than a century of history decorated by custom gate, mascot on the building, installations etc. Loads of paintings inside and a fireplace. We got a brewery tour, beer made in an old-fashioned way you won’t find anywhere else. Beer was world quality and special versions available too, super welcoming. Not sure if beer experiences do get much better. Perfect quality, note cash or payconiq only, the later you’re not likely to have if you’re a tourist.

Clearly a lot of money was spent here. The place looks phenomenal, lights go on and music starts playing when you drive into the garage. Elevator upstairs with drawings along the light shaft. Rooftop bar, with amazing view of the landscape and very prompt service. The whole range on tap and bottled, Abt 12 on nitro which was interesting. Some collabs too with Kazematten. I don’t find much value in these beers being non-bottle refermented but cool to try them like this. Shop with special magnums, gift packs, socks, cheese, meat, bottle openers etc. Wouldn’t know what more they could do or offer? Top spot.

Loads of bars in the street, great terrace and classical interior. It’s always very busy and popular understandably. Service didn’t make a lot of sense, one person doing one by one the tables who explained that I needed to wait my turn in the system. Another person just looking at it. The selection is not very interesting. It’s also cash only, they pointed it out by revealing a sign which was hidden and impossible to see, understandably given that this isn’t legal. With Le Verschueren and L’Ermitage bars being literally around the corner this is of absolutely zero interest.

I have walked past this place but never ventured inside but I am usually in Brussels for a concert, so I don’t buy beer to go, too much hassle. There’s a terrace outside now, but the weather was too bad for that. The owner was kind enough to let me sit at an improvised table in the back. He is retiring soon from his former job and is going to focus on this after his retirement. Inside seating is coming, there is a corkage fee and 3 fridges full of beer. Very friendly service and he’s the brother of the owner of Den Herberg. Selection has good choices for Belgian classical, big lambiek selection, natural wines, spirits, newer olive oil, sardines etc. With some seating this could really become something but as it stands his selection of Boerenerf, Den Herberg, Tilquin, 3 Fonteinen etc. is a quite impressive one and he’s quite knowledgeable and friendly too. It’s absolutely worth a look if you’re in the neighborhood.

It has been a long time since I checked this one out. The terrace is always very popular. If you go towards the back, the booths, the panels and the big bar it’s a gorgeous classical bar, always popular. Worth it for the interior, the draft menu is all Duvel Moortgat. Beer wise this is of very little interest.

The wooden panels, spaces and old-fashioned décor are quite nice with a spiral staircase and a stage. Tables by the wall, classical interior. The music was slightly too loud but pleasantly smooth 1960s music. The beer menu is nothing that loads of other places have just as well. It’s quite expensive to with Oud Beersel Oude Geuze being 13.80 euro. There is a well-priced on the other hand cocktail menu, but I just went for a more expensive Orval. No reason to seek this one out really.

Big and industrial, this is very much a working brewery with a bit too much noise and kegs being thrown around. Mostly long benches for seating. It doesn’t feel very welcoming, kitchen present (Mexican) and not many people around. Ten tanks of tank beer are available, one of them missing an allergy description (lactose) on it. Some more German styles included, not the most charming place, very no frills but I quite liked the beer, the quality was there. There are also cans for take away.

Located by the river, speakers also outside and plenty of space outside. Two rooms, pizzas, vegetarian but no vegan options, split in two. Quite a modern-looking taproom. It used to be some ruined industrial warehouse looking at the pictures on the wall. It’s a bit sterile but they have a fair number of beers and the ones we tried were decent.

Century plus gorgeous dark blue corner pub, pies served and there is a house cat which you can pet! Very friendly punters, one quite sauced local but all charming, lovely rundown with nicknacks. 8 cask taps in great shape including stuff I haven’t seen before. Top location.
