Bottle from Raynville. It pours darkest brown to black with a nice tan head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, dark and decadent, treacle, some umami, liquorice allsorts, bittersweet, bourbon barrel aged maple syrup, rather fruity, jammy, vanilla fudge, tunnocks teacake, jammy wagon wheel, chocolate bourbon biscuits and heady booze. The taste is slick, super fruity, jammy, dried fruits and berries, bitter - sweet, bourbon soaked oak, alcohol is well hidden, dark chocolate,
jammy wagon wheel, tunnocks teacake, vinous, vanilla, fruity whisky, charred, slightly tarry, dark roasted malt, coffee grounds, liquorice and toasty spice with a drying, chewy finish. Fulsome body and average carbonation. Plenty depth. Takes you on a journey for sure. Fun stuff.

Can from Aldi Inverurie. It pours hazy golden - blonde with a thick fluffy white head. The aroma is fresh, juicy and ripe, mango, apricot, nectarine, peaches & cream, orange creamsicle, bready, biscuit and some greenness. The taste is pretty smooth upfront, bittersweet, green, herbal, grassy, sticky, pithy, grapefruit, lemon rind rind, orange creamsicle, mango, brioche bread and biscuit with a soft finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Decent enough, but not sure I would pick it out of a hazy line up.

Keg at Fierce Bar Abz. It pours clear deep amber with a thick, fluffy off - white head. The aroma is woody, nutty, cereal, leather, sappy, brown bread, oatcakes, chai latte and cacao nibs. The taste is dry, nip of bitterness, woody, earthy, tannin, resin, toasty spice, brown bread, oatcake, muted caramel, chai latte spice, cinnamon bark and malt loaf with a drying and bitter woody finale. Average body and average, slightly prickly carbonation. Has a good depth of flavour. Mayen not as drinkable as one would expect for the abv, but definitely interesting. Would be good to see a higher abv version (7 - 8%).

Keg at Fierce Aberdeen. It pours clear golden - amber wig a thick, fluffy white head. The aroma is fresh, zippy, fragrant, lemony, touch of fairy liquid, toasty grains, biscuit, cereal and some nuttiness. The taste is crispy, dry, snappy, peppery spice, grassy, leafy, herbal, floral, soapy citrus, cereal and some nuttiness with a drying, lemon verbena finale. Medium body and fairly high, foamy carbonation. Decent lagerbier. Sits a touch heavier than expected, but still very enjoyable.

Cask at The Queen Vic. It pours clear darkest brown with a thick, dense khaki head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, roasty malts, toasted pine, touch of premium milk chocolate, chai latte, piney, malt loaf, hint of coffee and a twist of citrus. The taste is firmly dry, touch of bitterness, toasted pine, slightly sappy, resinous, coffee grounds, some umami, liquorice, treacle, malt loaf and toasty spice with a drying, toasty finish. Average body and moderate cask carbonation. Good condition. Much more depth than one would usually expect from this style. Moreish and quaffable.

Cask at The Globe Aberdeen. It pours clear deep gold - amber with a limited head. The aroma is soft, sappy, oily, sticky, digestive biscuit and earth. The taste is bitter - sweet, quite slick, sappy, resin, leather, caramel, peppery spice and slightly floral with a drying finale. Average body and light carbonation (perhaps could be done with a to touch more). Old school golden bitter vibes. It's decent enough, by better condition would lift it further.
